They kind of creeped me out at first but then they grew on me - but only if the top of the stamp ends right at the edge of the cardstock. If there's white space between the stamped image and the edge of the layer.....now that's creepy and looks like a headless person!
I think they are amazingly creative. It is kind of like modern art, some folks hate it, others love it. It must be very difficult to design something that no one else has thought of before and I think these are so clever.
Good thing we have a billion choices!

I love all the sets I have! I definitely see the artistic side to them. They are different than anything else i have seen and that's what I like. I am a teacher and there are many days I feel like I don't have my head on
I love em that way--the headless thing (imo) makes it easy to tailor the image for anyone you may be making a card for....that is the neat thing about them.
I have added a head to some of my images too...which is simple to do! So you can have them either way.
Art is intended to provoke an emotion from a total stranger. If youve succeeded in this, consider yourself an artist. Paper Shanks Blog. Love me or hate me, you are still talking about me
Back to the op, Sorry, we got silly and off topic.
I do like the dog walking one and the cake. The holiday set looks cute too. I'm not crazy about the others. I bet faces are SUPER hard to draw. I can't draw a straight line with a ruler so that's just a guess LOL
I agree - faces are very hard to draw - I like some of MFTs and not others. Love that there's variety for everyone!

Ohmigosh - she DID add a head to this stamp and it looks really good!!! I'm impressed. Here's the link....
this is a good thread...i love it when everyone talks about why they like or do not like certain stamp...I've always found these headless stamps a bit odd....not my thing (although I do own a set of the walking dogs); I can certainly see the artistic license in these stamps; modern art! whatever you want to call it.
How did Cammie get that head on? Did she draw it and then cut it out and paste it on the body? It looks awesome.
My two cents.....as if anyone gives a hoot.... For my liking they are too obviously headless. You can see the shirt collar and part of the neck, like the head was taken off with a clean cut! The walking dog stamp is cute, because the head is just obsecured, never even gave it a thought, but the teacher and the recliner guy look decapiatated. Maybe his wife was tired of his channel surfing or hoging the remote and came up behind him with a chain saw. Perhaps the teacher's head was taken off by one very sharp paper airplane?? Those paper cuts can be nasty you know!!!!
I do like these threads too...at least the ones like this where nobody gets nasty and defensive, lol! When everybody realizes the discussion is about stamps, not personalities, things go great....
I agree that the headless aspect is weirder with some of the latest releases...because as has been pointed out, the earlier ones show the head merely obscured, not just...missing.
I agree that orienting the image so the top is right at the edge of the cardstock helps quite a bit. Makes it seem more, uh, whole, maybe?

I am guessing she drew the head on, continuing from the chin lines left for the head on the stamp image. It looks very cute, non? I have stamps of realistic wolfman and Frankenstein heads which I would be very tempted to put on these images from MFT, myself.
I think the headless bodies in the tub, walking the dogs, and even in the sunbathing looked kind of neat because they evoked the sense of relaxing in a bubble bath or on the beach, and the bustle and energy of walking dogs. Plus, as others have so astutely mentioned, the focal point is on the dogs, tub, and beach scene in those images. When I look at the teacher image, even though she is holding an apple or yardstick that could serve as the focal point, without the head you mostly notice the absent head as the focal, er, I guess the un-focal point. I haven't seen Decapitated Recliner Guy yet.
I must admit, the first time I saw the Headless Sunbather image, I was a little confused by it and wondered where we were supposed to be looking -- at her boobs? Since I've seen the image more, and seen it coloured in with bright colours, I don't get that confusion so much any more.
I have the lady in the bathtub and love it....she doesn't strike me as headless since you only see her legs and one hand. I like it but it is the only one I have. Maybe I need to go and try to use this set in one of the DTGD challenges!!

Those are so cute~ you can tell they are from the same artist.
I love the MFT stamps, I have yet to get any though! I want the Halloween set first!!!
They are just crying out for an added head! lol!! I saw the teacher and immediately tried to add my kids head to the stamped body- too funny! I would totally tape on photo heads to all the bodies Like the muscle man and bathing lady you see at the water park that you can put your head into the cut away oval- priceless with these stamps! lol!

I didn't think they were creepy until I saw the teacher. It is positively gorey - looks like someone chopped her head off.

Relaxing headless in the tub would be good...my hair wouldn't frizz and I could set it on the nightstand and do my hair so it looks right in the back!

I think it depends on whether it is obvious that the person doesn't have a head. The dogs and the birthday cake, are usually cute- although I still don't "get" it. The teacher creeps me out!
I guess it depends on the layout then. If the person can distract me from the fact that there is no head- it's all good. If the first thing I notice is that the person has no head, that's not so good.
I don't have any though, and won't be getting any.

just my HO (humble opinion) but rubber stamps of people should have heads and faces ...I just don't understand this trend.

Maybe we are all vertically challenged in my family, but no one's head ever sticks out higher than the recliner. To me, that's why it looks a bit awkward. Maybe his head could have been even with the top of the recliner, but could have been obscured by the "wing" part of the chair.
That said, I do think a lot of the MFT stamps are really cute and like the altered perspective. And I definitely admire the stamper entrepreneurs who start businesses like MFT, stampingbella, PaperTrey, Flourishes, etc. It takes a lot of talent and guts to follow your dream!

Thanks for sharing that link, Anna! Those cards are very cute and this artist's work is so unique. I love to see new ideas! It is so awesome that we stampers have so many choices! Something fun for every taste!

Great explanation about the focal points... some seem more natural to me and it must be the focal points you're talking about.
You had me LOL at the decapitated guy and boobs bather. You're too funny!

LOL! We're vertically challenged too! Maybe that's why it looks odd to me too! ;)
Here's one more thing that bothers me.... the walking dogs stamp is not drawn correctly. It's so obvious in every card I see. The knee should not be popped out if the leg is extended back behind the other one.
OK, I just went and looked at these stamps, I don't mind the woman walking the dog, or drinking the coffee, etc. BUT - the teacher was kinda creepy. I'd prolly by the coffee one or the dog one, but I don't think I'd get the teacher.
I never say never when it comes to liking/buying stamps. Sure enough, I will see a gallery post on SCS that will speak to me and make me what that stamp! It's just wonderful to have such a variety to chose from!

Just out of interest....does anyone know of dogs that look like these??? Are they drawn correctly? My poodle does not have curved, bent forward legs like the ones in this set......but this is a drawing....not anotomically precise. It is someones creativity drawn out on paper. Nothing more.
Stamped images give people a way to be creative with paper and ink. Thank goodness there is so much diversity in the kinds of images we can obtain. I would certainly be sad if I couldn't express myself freely and artically with what I wanted to use as inspiration.

ROFLMHO!!! I have those thoughts too if I stare at them to long!
I like these better then the bellas! I don't own any yet but I esp. love the bubblebath one!
I really don't think that I, or anyone else, was intending to be hurtful. We're just "discussing" it. So, there have been a few laughs.... life's too short to get upset over this.
So their heads are not seperate so you can stamp a different head? They just come with no heads at all? The teacher one makes me think of the teacher on Charlie Brown. You never saw their heads either and only heard...womp womp wom womp womp womp womp.

I don't think anyone has. I just remember the Bella thread that started out joking and turned ugly and mean. It was just a reminder

You know I went and checked them out- and while I definetly don't like the sun bather, teacher, or recliner, the bathtub is fantastic. It cuts off mid-torso though, so it's not headless, it's half body.
And then the ones that are obviously framed I think are nice- it's the one where it's just an entire body with no head get me.
But now that i've really looked- I kind of like the legs out of the bathtub
