Default Making wrapping paper

Hi everyone, I just got my stampin up handle and wheels and real excited to use them. I've read that you can make your own wrapping paper but where can you find white wrapping paper. I've only seen printed or color. Please help!

We carry white wrapping paper in our catalog.

I tried once buying plain white wrapping paper at a store - it must have had a slight coating on it because I wasn't able to wheel at ALL on it and of course I found this out like 25 minutes before I had to leave for the baby shower with a present that still needed wrapping! LOL I ended up stamping and then embossing with clear embossing powder - what a PITA (pain in the butt ;D ).

The wrapping paper we carry is excellent for stamping and not slippery!!

I got a big roll at Target for maybe $3. I've never tried to wheel on it (my wheels and I have a rocky relationship - lol!) but I've stamped on it and it sticks just fine without embossing for me.

I've used freezer paper to make wrapping paper, the non waxed side. I read about this on some stamping site. It works great!

I've found rolls of white and kraft at Michael's and JoAnn's. The outside of the white did seem to have a coating but if you use the underside it works fine. What I usually do is also get rolls of plain colored wrapping paper (from Target) and wrap the present with this and then do a strip of the white or kraft around the center. It saves me from having to roll a whole piece of paper and gives more color to the package.

Thanks for mentioning that. I was going to say I bet that would work, but having never tried it I didn't want to say anything! I might have to try that after this roll runs out!

Moving companies have big sheets of natural white paper that they use for wrapping up breakables. I have a tonne of it from our last move. They are great for wrapping paper.

If you have a local printing company in your area (prints newpapers and such) ask them for an end roll. This is the paper that is left over from the enormous rolls that they print newpapers and fliers on. I called and asked for one roll for my Girl Scout troop and one for our church. That was 4 years ago and I'm still working off that roll of paper. It's white butcher block paper. You can also get newsprint as well. What a bargain. It's free.

I prefer kraft paper (light brown in color). I use my Hallmark Gold Crown Card certificates to get them for free. They don't have any coating and I like the antique look it gives the package vs. the stark white.
