Default Is this just TOO much space to dedicate to scraps?

I love my scrap system. Prior to yesterday I had these little drawers in 2 stacks of 4. Then I added the book shelf there and put them all on it. I was so happy at first and then I said "Wow, this might be too much space dedicated to scraps"

What do you think?

I think that it looks like a very well organized space. I also think that it is a lot of space, but if it's working for you and you have the room,I'd keep it. It wouldn't work for me since I only have a corner of the basement. I store my scraps in file folers.

Does storing them like this mean you actually use the scraps instead of grabbing a full sheet of cardstock?

If "yes", then it's definitely not too much space to dedicate to scraps!

Does the bookcase take up space that was previously reserved for a refrigerator filled with cold delicious Coca-Cola? Or a cupboard holding Dove promises in many assorted flavors (especially the caramel)?

If "yes", then perhaps too much space

That is a great scrap system! It is worth the space if it is easy to find what you need quickly and you actually use your scraps.

Looks great and looks very organized. Mine are stufted into the top drawer of a bigger version of your little plastic drawers. I do try to use my scraps but they have gotten bent in that drawer. I don't think it looks like too much space and it's so cute!

I think that's a fantastic scrap storage space you have! I wish I had something like that. I do go through my scraps first, but they are just kind of all together in a shoe box ... NOT a good system. LOL.

Hmm, it appears to me that there is room on that shelf for 4 more 3-drawer units. That's 12 different kinds of chocolates - you'd have room for Dove and Ghiradellis!

Not too much space if it works for you.

Now, on to the important part of this comment: You are in MA and I'm in NH. You are obviously very neat and organized. Me, not so much. Come help me!!

I think it looks great. Of course I agree totally that the added chocolate supply would be a must. ;)

I love that! If I had this maybe I'd actually use my scraps! Of course, i'd have to force myself to actually take the time to sort them into the drawers first....

Now I am completely convinced and will make room for chocolate. Who cares if there are chocolate finger prints on all my cards from now on lol.

In case anyone is interested these are the Medium size sterilite draweres, there's a bigger and a tinier version. These make it so I don't have to cut down the scrap too much to fit in there. Even an 8.5" strip will fit in there, but I keep half sheets with the rest of the paper stack not in with scraps.

There's also no rhyme or reason to which colors in which drawers. They just had to NOT look similar, so I don't put say Real Red in with Riding Hood Red.

I guess I'll keep it Thanks for all the compliments, made my day I've been tearing apart my room and reorganizing. Why is organizing this stuff just as much fun as using it?

Erin

If the system works for you, and you like it (and are able to use your scraps because of it) then it doesn't matter how much or how little space it takes up - it's just right!

my thought is simple: if it works for you, then do it!

I need to re-work my own scrap storage, they are all in one big drawer and I cant find anything in it. then the papers get bent while I dig through them. certainly not working.

I have an empty cart with larger drawers and I am now inspired to sort and USE my scraps. Really bad about just tossing them, grabbing a new piece of paper just seems so much quicker. I will use two drawers for scraps and have plenty of room for the next project. No chocolate for me, until I get my Weight Watchers lifetime key!
