Default Joseph's coat insided out?

So there's a card in the gallery posted by labullard, and she mentions that she did it like: " 'Joseph's Coat Inside Out,' featured in the latest (just released) Technique Junkies Newsletter." I was wondering first of all what exactly the technique is (can someone give me a link or something?), and also what the Technique Junkies Newsletter is and how to find/get it? I absolutely love her card and would like to learn how to do something like it. Thanks so much!

I'd be interested in learning about the technique and newsletter also.

The Technique Junkies newsletter is a paid subscription full of awesome stamping techniques. You can find out about it here at www.patstamps.com. It is well worth every penny!

Pat asks that we do not share the exact details about the new techniques. You can get access to past techniques with a subscription.

I am a TJ, and I love it! She also has a yahoo group for subscribers, and everytime a new issue comes out....there are tons of awesome samples to ooh and ahh over!

I hope that helps!

Default Technique by JanTink

I believe JanTink invented this technique and coined the phrase. She added the instructions to the Paint Print cards she posted about a year ago.

Marie, I'm not sure how the TJ newsletter does it. This is basically just a resist card. Resist is where you put a medium (think batik) over a background in a pattern of your choice. Then add dye (in this case, ink--different colors) by rubbing on with a sponge or brayer. In batik you simply melt the wax and what's underneath is still the original color. In this card, by buffing the card with a tissue, you remove the color on that part of it, since it couldn't penetrate. This probably sounds clear as mud...

So, say you start with a piece of white cardstock. Stamp a background design, French Script or something like that, then take a solid stamp, a flower or star or whatever, and either use versamark or actually go a step further an clear emboss it.

Now start adding different colors of ink. You can either take one color and brayer over the whole thing, or you can sponge on a couple of different colors. Where you've embossed, or versamarked, will not accept the new ink. Just buff it off with a tissue and you'll see the original layer.

You can use glossy or matte cardstock. Glossy gives a more vibrant look, but I like matte because it's very soft... I hope you experiment with this! Remember, it's only paper...what have you got to lose, lol?

Thanks for all the answers everyone! I did finally find it on here in the techniques part. Her card is just so cool because she didn't do the normal black ontop, so it looks really different than the normal ones. I appreciate all of the info!
