Default INK QUESTION

I have been given heaps of clear rubber stamps -- they are little packets and I think about $1 each. Can anyone tell me if there is a ink that works better on them than other inks ??? I have been trying to ink them with SU ink and it does not stamp out all that well. I do have better quality clear stamps and they stamp fine. Any help would be awesome. Thanks Kim

I usually use my distress ink pads for my clear stamps. It has worked great so far.

Yes, those little $1 clear stamps can be a challenge to get a good image For black ink, my best results with those stamps are Versafine Onyx; Palette inks work pretty well with them, too.

If you want color, try to stick with a more pigment-type ink: Versamagic chalk inks work pretty well (although they can tend to stain the stamp) and Brilliance inks work well with them. Both these inks will dry fairly quickly, too.

use a pencil eraser on them before the first inking, this seems to help roughen them to hold the ink better.

They are a bit of a challenge, but I have found a way that works for me, that might help. I ink the stamp with some versamagic or embossing ink first, stamp the image on some scrap paper and then use my ink of choice without cleaning the stamp, the embossing ink seems to catch and hold the ink onto the stamp.

Hope this make sense and is of some use to you!

Liquid chalk works great and so does pigment ink. It seems like after the stamp has been primed (used for a while), then they take dye ink better as well.

As people have said in the previous posts, chalk inks and pigment inks work better with clear stamps, especially the cheapies. Another ink that works great is the Studio G inks from Michaels. They are the little cubes that are made to use with the little Studio G stamps. I think they may be a hybrid ink since they dry really quick, but they do work great with the clear stamps. Another trick you can try is to stamp in an ink like Stazon and let it dry on the stamp. It will stain the stamp, but then the stamp will accept any other kinds of inks including dye inks. I accidentally found that dried Versamark also works this way (forgot to clean my stamp). Momento inks also work pretty good with clear stamps for most colours. I've had a few colours that don't do to well. There is also the Stampology brand of inks (Michaels & Walmart here in Calgary carry it) which is specifically formulated for clear stamps. Marvy also has markers where the inks are specifically formulated to work on clear stamps. I find that their regular markers work pretty well also for most colours.

A Muse inks have a chalk-like quality and work beautifully with clear stamps. They are my favorite for everything - rubber, clear, sponging, etc.

I also like Versamagic, Versafine and Memento.

I use the Colorbox Chalk Ink pads for clear stamps...always a good image with the chalk inks (Versamagic, Colorbox) I have not tried Brilliance yet.

I love the Colorbox Chalk Inks for clear stamps, too. Always a good impression. I buy the catseye stacks, so I get a lot of colors that way. I find that Versafine inks work great, too, but I just don't have as many colors.
