So, the wedding chaos is now over and done, and I am back in the land of internet access again! Yeah me!!!!!
So, given the INSANE amount of photos I now have of the wedding, I am going to share the joy with you all ................
.................................by challenging all of you to also organize your photos.
Be they actual prints, or digital on the computer, get them organized. Either by date, or event, or theme, your choice, just so you can find them when you need them.
I purchased the scotch brand picture hangers (the kind with the tape that comes right off the wall if you change your mind). I mounted 6 of them on the wall spaced about 18 inches apart, in two rows). On the hangers I hung skirt hangers (the kind with the metal pinch holders). I pinched on some oversize ziploc bags (big enough to accomodate 12X12 papers). In the bags are 6 layouts ready to scrap. Sketch/Scheme, Paper, stickers, photos, embellishments, the whole nine yards. Now when I feel like scrapping but don't know "what", I can grap one of my bags, get it done quick (because I have picked everything out in advance), and know right where it is. I have the papers stored in front so it makes for a very nice gallery of beautiful papers.
I ran into your challenge about 1 week ago and decided to go for it in one night.
MY dh sat in my space with me, lifted, carted, and handed for me. I am not done, I still have one "stack" to go, but your very simple idea of a put away tray has made all the difference after I did some basic organizing. This weekend while dd and dh were napping I was able to walk in, start scrapping, and complete a 2 page 12X12 layout and 2 complete cards. All the stuff in my put away tray got put away, so next time I walk into my space I'll be "ready" to scrap!!!
Can't wait to finish up.
Now for the pictures?!?!?!?!
so glad you are back from the wedding. I , too, need to get my most recent photos sorted. This will give me the incentive to sort.
Last summer, I went through boxes and boxes of photos. I put them in those shoebox type photo boxes by years.(I won't say how many boxes I came up with.LOL) Anyway, my project this summer is to get my son's Boy Scout album done, so this is a good start...find all the scout pictures and get them together. Thanks for these wonderful orgainzational tips!!!

The way that I organize my photos is like this. This has been an ongoing project due to the limited apace that a trailor (with 4 children and hubby) provides. I have used the fruit baskets--like from the fruit market-- and dated all of the envelopes that they came in. I used to arrange them by date thankd to a selk dating camers. Thaat one broke--after oh 5 or 6 thousand picts! Now i put all in the fruit baskets and work on scrapping when possible. When I am ready to scrap, I have also had my own personal cropping party, and those picts are: cropped, have adhesive squares on the back, and are in their own baggie with embellishments! Have a wonderful day all of you peoples. My picts are organized and ready for the ablum! Yeah for me. I have one of these challanges done already! Taishea
A tool I feel was extremely helpful was the power sort from creative memories . . . I have two and I feel so much happier knowing they are in a happy place waiting to go into a scrapbook.

I am so glad you are back! I really need this challenge. I did a book (actualy it took 2) for my son's graduation. I ended up going through 5 different boxes looking for pictures! What a mess! I finally had enough to do the books, but I know there are a ton that I missed. The books are only for K-12th grade. He is 18 and DD is 14. I have pictures from birth to now. I have scrapped some, but have a long way to go. DD is going into 10th grade. I want to start her books now so I do not have to do another marathon week like I did with DS. I still have not done my own wedding which was 20 yrs ago!
While you were gone I did something really bad. I rearranged my craft room. Now I do not know where anything is! At least in the old chaos I knew where things were.
here's my picture organization system.. it's a constant work in progress but I at least know where to find the pictures I am looking for.
When I get pictures done I get doubles. One set I keep regular albums chronologically since the time I had my first daughter - these are up in my living room so we can page through them whenever. The other set I sort by event or child and have them filed in photo boxes. So for example I have christmas 2004 photos all in one envelope pouch (I love the ones from cropper hopper). Or if the picture is just of one child and particular event I have a file just for them so I can complie their own books.
The other thing I did was organize all of my negatives and slides in to protectors and they are in binders.
I got one of those closet cupboard deals at target and have all of my photos and other memorbilia stored in there.. everything is in one place - this wasn't the case before and it drove me crazy.
My new challenge is that we got a new digital camera.. I have to transfer my system now to organizing the files on my computer! I also really new to get the "other" stuff organized... newspaper clippings, cards, letters, certificates... I have so much of these things!
This challenge is going to take time. My SIL is a photographer and takes tons of pictures of my DD. She is only two and already we have more pictures of her than of DH and myself combined. I'm so far behind in my scrapbooking but I should have names and dates on all my photos and they certainly don't all go in a scrapbook page. I do have loads of photo albums and the pictures are arranged by date but I don't think I have anything on them as far as names or dates on the back. It is a gruelling task so I think I will wait until I'm watching a movie or something. I'll need a movie marathon for that task. I confess I'm not planning to work on it now but sometime in the near future.
