today and I did not like what I saw. I saw a woman I told myself I would never become. My mother dresses better than I do. What a sight. Jeans from the 1980s, dated, ugly ... a long, out of shape t-shirt and ugly runners.
So I see this clothing store and hop inside. I am obsessed about getting out of these clothes NOW. I spot a shirt. Groovy guava, very vanilla and chocolate chip in a busy flower design (would never have looked at this 2 years ago); I spy some chocolate chip capris. Too finish it off, some cute sandals with bling (rhinestone design) on them (would never have bought these 2 years ago).
I wore everything out of the dressing room, holding my clothes in my hands. The sales woman rang everything in after she cut off all the tags for me. Oh, and then she gave me back my sandle which she had been admiring. The other one was on my foot!
So, where am I going with this? Stamping, of course. I realized that over the last 2 years I have been studying colors and never knew it. And I have become at ease with them and can mix and match like no tomorrow. I pulled this outfit together in less than 10 minutes. This never would have happened before; I used to hate clothes shopping; it's still not my fave thing in the world, but at least I can put the colors together.
Stamping has given me a creative and peaceful outlet. And it has helped me with house design and now clothes. What a hobby.
I'm not sure about any modeling, but I think a picture of the shirt could be used as an inspiration piece for a card! LOL!!! It reminds me of DP I would use on a card. Trying to figure out if it is BasicGrey or more Papertrey!
Great story. As you were telling it I was thinking about what I had on yesterday - old faded shorts, an XL Mickey Mouse t-shirt with the image cracked and rubbing off. Yuck. Today I look ok b/c I'm dressed to meet a friend for lunch. But I'm sure I don't look anywhere near as cool as your new outfit. Enjoy it.

How fun! I saw a radio station's slogan once and I love it. It just said, "Evolve!" Guess that's what stamping has done for you, let you evolve!
Now go update your hairdo! I did and it does wonders!
Did the hair a few weeks ago! You are right! It does wonders. New cut, different color (s) . I left my old hairdresser who is in a rut and it put me in a rut. I loved the guy, but it was time to leave. And when the new girl showed me all the wonderful hair colors for hight lights, I oohed and awwed. Such pretty colors. I am in love with color thanks to my stamping.
Enjoyed your story....from the thread title and first paragraph, I was thinking, did she mean to put this in Everyday Chit chat? THEN I got it. I agree color can do wonders for you. ENJOY!
Hooray for reflective glass!!! That is such a great story!!!! It is like something off of Oprah. It almost inspires me to go change out of my shlumps-a-lot....almost. Maybe before the kids come home from school!!
Fun story... congrats on your new look! Isn't it funny when you see the world in SU colors? lol! I have always been interested in fashion and shopping, so it worked for me the other way around... I see colors and trends in fashion, then try to use them in my cards.
Good for you. It's great that you can apply your knowlege of colors and patterns from stamping into other areas. I am also guilty of hanging onto clothing that should be tossed out, but I figure they are still intact and I'm mostly home with kids. I'll have to check out some new summer duds with an eye towards dp and cardstock colors.
I just LOVE your story! How inspirational and I'm so happy for you too, I can just imagine how you felt walking out of that store with frumpy clothes tucked away in a bag and sporting a slick new YOU! Way to go and thanks for sharing!
This story kind of reminded me of a time when a friend and I were at the mall. I told her "psst, don't look around, but there are two fat ladies following us." Of course, she looked around and saw that we were standing in front of a reflective store window. Oh, well, I do know what you mean about the colors affecting your life. I redid my living room and dining room and can only describe them using su colors.
LOL!! You know your heart and soul are into stamping when everything seems to be derived from the stamping world
This made me laugh because i wore my chocolate chip hat today and i drive a certainly celery car. ;) And here I thought I was the only one who saw the world in SU colors!
