Maybe you could put Flowers into one cube, Animals like cows and chickens in another, Birthdays & Balloons in one, masculine things like Sports in one. I think once you separate a few of them you will think of other categories

You could try by the size of the box and then alphabetically. Or maybe by the categories in the IBC.

Or you could categorize them using the SU catalog categories, then just mark each set that you have in the catalog with a highlighter so you can flip through that for inspiration and to know what you've got. As for retired sets that you can't keep track of in the catalog, stamp them on a sheet of copy paper and then pop them into a three ring binder, and as you get new sets, either photo copy the stickers before putting them on your blocks or stamp them on copy paper and add them to the binder.

I love my binder, and so do my friends who want to borrow sets, because all they have to do is flip through the pages instead of sitting on the floor in front of the bookcase pulling out stacks of sets.

Another thing I did is to label the ends of the stamp set boxes using my Dymo label maker, by using black ink on white label you can more easily read the set names while they are on the shelf.

Have fun!
