I've noticed alot of cards that use stamps that have both an image and text. (Like SU Very Punny set) I've seen alot of nice cards on SCS that have the picture without the text. After receiving my Very Punny set and seeing how close the image and text are, I was wondering how to do that. I haven't mounted my stamps yet. I'd appreciate any advice. Also on another note, ES6000 adhesive.....any tips on using this without getting it everywhere and on everything??
I don't use SU sets, so I'll let those gals answer. I'd guess they either mask, use a marker or they've separated them before mounting...
E6000--Sometimes I squirt it out onto a piece of paper then use a toothpick or my finger to put just a touch where I want it--if I don't want much in any one place. Am I making sense? ;-)

When you mount them, you can cut the sentiment and picture apart and mount them separately (on the top and side). I did that with Very Punny. It was a bit challenging, but I snipped and them bent them downward and it *opened* up a bit of space to continue cutting. It didn't effect the image or sentiment at all. Also, if they are mounted together, you can just ink the image and not the sentiment. If you get ink on the sentiment, carefully wipe away with wipe and then dry. Trickier, but helpful when you only want to capture part of your stamp.

I don't have this set, but I know on some sets I've cut the words off of the image & mounted them on the back of the stamp. To get just part of an image, you can color in the image you want to show with a marker & stamp it. Or, someone said they use scotch tape on the part they don't want to show: tape over the part of the stamp you don't want to print. Then, dip in ink, and remove tape. Only the image you want to show up will be inked.
Not sure how to not be messy with the glue, though!
The text on the Very Punny set is REALLY close to the image, isn't it?? I just got my set yesterday. I am going to try using an exacto knife to cut them apart before mounting and see if that will work. Dh just left for a basketball game, so this is a good time to play with it! I'll let you know how I do!
I have that set... And what I do when I want to stamp something that has words on it. And I don't want them to show on my card.. I ink it first and then take a piece of Tape and cover up the words then stamp with my stamp.
Then I pull the tape off.. Love the stamp set too!!!
As long as you take it slowly, and use a good pair of scissors, you can cut the text away from the Very Punny image. I mounted the text on to the right side of the wood block (if you mount it on the top or bottom it can get in the way if you want to use the wheel guide for placement.) Cut the text on the label and mount that on the left side of the block...just make sure you know which way your image (on the opposite side) is placed. I also did this with the best of Cluck set, just be careful that you can get the text on the side of the wood block...like my husband the carpenter says, measure twice- cut once! Hope this helps!
Just finished cutting up my Very Punny...couldn't find my exacto knife, so I just cut VERY carefully with my scissors and it worked great! I just mounted the sayings on the side. I am excited to use this set!
I am so grateful for all of your advice. That's why I love SCS. I cut my stamps apart tonight. Woo hoo!! Now they will be much more versatile. I also used E6000 tonight without getting it all over the place. You guys are the BEST!! Look for some Very Punny from me real soon. Thanks!!:-D
