Default How to keep from wasting Xyron adhesive?

I just got a Xyron 510 to use because I really wanted an easy way to attach vellum. It does a great job and I'm thrilled with it! But it seems like SO much of the adhesive film is wasted!! Does anyone keep the sheet that you pull your cardstock off of? Can you stock other small pieces in there and burnish them by hand? Does that work? I know these refills are expensive.

Thanks in advance!

Susan

Default keep the realse paper

Another idea is to keep the realease paper from the backing of it works great for UTEE projects. Nothing will stick to it.

Yes Soozie4him you can add small pieces on the edges and burnish them to use up the excess if the adhesive is still on the white sticker paper.

I will often wait to do several pieces of CS at one sitting. I'm careful to feed the CS in one piece after another, making sure not to let it overlap.
I love my little 150 sticker maker for small images, but I will often stamp several larger images on a 5 inch wide piece of CS and run that through the Xyron. I color them all and cut them out as I need them.
I've often wished that the top of mine was made of clear plastic so that it would be easier to feed items in without overlapping. :?

Another way to extend your xyron refill is to layer images BEFORE you run them through the machine. Say you are running through a card front size piece CS. Layer smaller items under it, for instance smaller size squares that will be layered onto that card or another card. After the piece is run through the machine, pull off the smaller pieces. There will be no adhesive on the larger piece where the smaller pieces went through. But it will stick just fine because there is adhesive all the way around its outer edge AND your smaller pieces are good to go as well.

I have read the posts about xyron adhesive. From what I have read so far - xyron applies some sort of adhesive. But
what is a xyron machine and what or how is it used?
Thanks
Marcie

Xyron makes several different sizes of machines that apply adhesive to paper, so basically you can make a sticker out of anything. Some of the machines also allow you to laminate. You get the adhesive or laminate in a cartridge.

Here's a link to the xyron site:
