Okay I am seriously thinking about this set. It's the one with the rik rak stamp and the polka dot ribbon and a stitching one and a couple others. If you have it do you love it or hate it or what? Does anyone know if Joann's, AC Moore or Hobby Lobby carries it? Thanks a bunch on any info you can give me on this set.
I have it and love it. In fact I haven't bought Trimtastic yet because I have it. I bought mine from Hero Arts online store since I couldn't find it locally. I don't think any of the stores you listed have it.
It works well, but the stamps aren't nearly as long or stamp as clearly as Trimtastic. If you have a chance to see the results and compare, Trimtastic is by far the better set. Trimtastic has an almost photographic appearance when stamped...Hero Art's doesn't hold a candle to it...
I have the set and love it, especially now that I am getting used to it. In typical Hero Arts fashion, the stamps are not cut very close and it is EASY to get shadowing from the edges of the stamps, but once I get busy and fix it, that won't happen any more. As was stated above, they aren't quite long enough for some cards, depending on the layout. I love the look of the zigzag stitch when you use a pin or piercing tool to make the "needle holes" for each stitch--great effect! I also use "Wavy Words" on top of the solid ribbon w/ loops on the edges ribbon to give the effect of printed ribbon--it's pretty cool, too. Here's a link to the Wavy Wishes: http://www.heroarts.com/products/pro...017&subCat=C01
Glad I bought these, and love to use them! Check out the other sets the gals have mentioned, though, just to be sure...

"Rubber stamping is like coloring for grown-ups!"
I have them and love them, I get coverage almost every time so it may depend on your paper. I do however wish they were longer than the just under 3 7/8". I would prefer an image the length of the 5 1/2" card.
I do extend them beyond their length with a stamp positioner.
I have never seen them in any of the craft stores but I don't have Hobby Lobby near me. I don't think Michael's carries Hero Arts at all.
As for trimming close, nope the company is not famous for trimming but I have no problem trimming my stamps and do so on almost every one I purchase without taking it off the wood.
If you lived close you could borrow mine to test them out.
I just ordered mine last week after wanting them for 2 years, I was waiting to see what SU came up with (yep, got Trimtastic too!) I got mine through www.addictedtorubberstamps.com. Go to companies, then Hero Arts and you will find them.

I have this set and discovered after using it that it is really poorly designed for the size/type of cards I do!!!:( To start with, the rubber on the stamp is not generous enough to make it across a 4 1/4" cardfront...bummer. I discovered this using the zig-zag stitch. I THOUGHT I would be able to make the image longer by stamping it again - WRONG!!! Whoever designed this stamp didn't think ahead about where to start and stop the zig and the zag -- there is no way you can make a continuous line with this stamp without overlapping one part of the stitch ---dumb, dumb, dumb!!!! Can you tell I'm a little ticked about this "stitches" set?
If you haven't already bought this, I would recommend trying to get something else. CTMH had a really nice stitches set as their stamp of the month in June or July and someone might have an extra set of this - it was clear and needs to be mounted on acrylic blocks to use, but it is correctly designed so that you can make continuous lines of stitches with out overlapping. The stitches stamps measure a generous 5 7/8" long so it will make it across both the long and short sides of a normal card front without having to "connect the lines". If you can't find the CTMH set, someone mentioned another stamp co that had a stitiches set (also clear, unmounted) that sounded similar and was very inexpensive. You might do a search and see if you can locate that thread for more insight on places to look.
I don't have this set but I have the clear one that I bought from addictedtostamping. The clear one works great and it extends to the legth of the paper--plus it's clear so if you missed something, you can go back and stamp over without using the positioner. I made a card with in in my gallery, and it looks like a real ribbon. It is the one of the fairy. I love the clear acrylics. I also bought the buckle ones from addictedto stamping as well. I'll get the name of it once I go home.

I don't have this problem. My zig and zag stamp fine. My only problem is lining it up so that it's straight!
Check out Inky Antics. They have clear sets--Ravishing Ribbons and Sew Many Stitches. I don't have them yet, but they're on my list!
I have these and I LOVE them. Being clear they are WAY easier to line up and they are longer too - about 6" - so it's easy to get them on the full length of a card. Plus they're only like $14US each - way cheaper than wood mounts!
I agree, I like the design of the Hero Arts ones but they are not long enough and hard to get straight and line up! I have the same problems as Boss with my zigzag!
I have the CTMH stitches and LOVE it, I'd recommend any set that is long (6'') and/or clear, it makes all the difference with stamps like this, I think.
I have the Hero Arts set- don't use it much. I think I like using my real ribbon too much...and I had trouble lining it up even with the stamp positioner. The clear ones sound like a better idea.
I have it. I got it when my LSS went out of business. I haven't used it much. You might be able to get it at AC Moore or have someone there order it for you. They ordered a punch for me they didn't carry but were able to do it because they carried others by the same company. I like the stitch stamp a lot but have been thinking about trimtastic because of the size. It looks long enough to cover the length of a standard 1/4 page card where the hero arts set isn't. The Hero Arts set is really cute but Trimtastic's length is hard to pass up IMO.
I have the Hero Arts set and have used it on occasion but didn't like it as much as I thought I would for the reasons previously stated. I'd really suggest this in a clear stamp set. I bought the CTMH one that was the Stamp of the Month last month and love it. But I've seen other companies that have similar clear stamps. In general I like wood mounted stamps better than acrylics...but this is one instance where being able to see through the block is a HUGE help.
I must concur - I have the Hero Arts Ribbons and I love them but they are WAAAAY too short. I would definitely look at ones that are at least 5 1/2" in length. I have been eyeballing the Inky Antics ones, but I use so much of the "real thing" that I haven't bit the bullet yet and ordered these. Inky has some awesome new stuff that is screaming my name, but I have to watch what I spend so that I can actually make money doing this - not just spend it - LOL

You got me curious so I pulled mine out stamped on the postioner then did it on paper and lined up the positioner and stamped, it was absolutely perfect!
I'll play with it and the others tomorrow and try to give more feedback on it. Such as end stitches facing up or down to make it easier.
You do without a doubt need a steady hand for the zig zag, my older friend (70's) just couldn't do it so I just did it for her to save my semi glossy paper from going to the trash.

I re-checked mine after you posted this and I DIDN'T imagine that mine cannot be connected without overlapping...regardless of whether you flip the stamp and approach it from the other end. I know I got mine set when they very first came out and maybe there was a "bobble" on some of these to start with.

Do you know how to do an attachment and get a photo on here and we can compare. You never know if they could have changed the design, I didn't get mine as soon as they came out.
Or you can look at this link and the see what I have and compare designs.
Nedatn - The designs are not set up to be perfectly straight, I noticed that when I cut the ribbon out for a weave. Just so you know that.

Unfortunately, I am VERY inept at computer "stuff" , so chances of me uploading an image are estimated at 0%! I did know how to up load photos before we changed to a new photo program, and now for some reason I can't...even tried the old program again and proved to myself that I really don't "do" computer stuff well....:???: Bummer, huh?
My favorite stamps in this set at the moment are the rick rack and the polka dot stamps. So after searching and searching and not finding them on sale or anything I gave up for awhile and went and wanted the episode of Scrapbook Memories I had tapped earlier. Well on the show they were making foam stamps. So a little light bulb went on and I said I should try it. I made a polka dot one....just cut a 1/2 inch strips and use your hole punch to punch holes. Then I added layers of 3/4 inch strips to make it easier to hold. I then got out my decorative scissors and made a rick rack one. I will take a picture and post it for you all to see.
