Tile Coasters

I printed out the recent directions for tile coasters, which indicates that the tiles can be bought at a home improvement store, however, I'm not finding any. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find porous tiles. Thank you.

I bought mine at Lowes. You might try any flooring store. They might have them there.

GinaK did a great tutorial on tile coasters at Stamp TV. You can view it here.

I don't think Lowes' carries them anymore, but I saw some at Menards. I have used Sharpies in addition to Staz-on then baked them at 300 for about 15 minutes. If you use that sealer spray, they will no longer absorb any water and defeat the entire purpose of coasters. Using Staz-on and Sharpies works even without the baking step. Once they dry, they're set. I also used Tim Holz alcohol ink to color mine last year before stamping. The recipients couldn't believe I made them myself.

Here's a link from the Techniques forum - the search results for "tiles."

Forums at Splitcoaststampers

You'll find tons of info here

Having some computer trouble, but I'm pretty sure there's also a tutorial under "resources" at the top of the page!

I got mine at Home Depot. They came shrink-wrapped, 9 (3 square feet) to a package.

I bought a roll of thin cork at Walmart in the office supplies section. I cut it to the size that I need ane use E6000 to glue it onto the tiles.

I buy cork self-adhesive shelf paper on a roll at Lowe's, where I also by my tiles. Just cut to size, peel off the paper & slap on bottom of coaster. Stays put very well - have never had any cork come off.

Thanks very much for the info. The US WMart carries much more than we do in Canada but I'm going to check it out. Also will check Lowe's when we come to the US next month.

I buy the little self adhesive cork circles at Lowe's or Home Depot and put one in each corner.

I have gotten my tiles at Home Depot and Lowes,...I go in comfy clothing and open all the boxes and pick and choose my tiles as some are very poor for coasters,...too porus for and design to be stamped. The staff have never questioned me,I prefer to pick and choose. My cork backing I get with a coupon at Michaels as well as my Polly.
