Question Help with Little Pieces

I'm trying to make a card using the Little Pieces set that is similar to the one on page 186 of the catalog (3 rows of 3 circles with different symbols inside the circles). How do I get the circles to be evenly spaced apart? I know its possible b/c I've seen several similar cards in the gallery. Can anyone help??

Some people have used the 9 circle stamp from Great Shapes. The other option would be to use the stamp-a-ma-jig.

maybe try using a ruler as a guide line, and also to see where you want your images to go? or, you could pm someone who did a sample that you want to imitate? whatever you do let us all know if you figure out the trick!

Howabout stamping one of the circles and cutting it out - then use that as a pattern to lightly trace it in the position(s) you want it before stamping it there. After you've stamped the circles, erase the lines. Would that work? OR you could stamp the images you want and then cut them all out and adhere them where you want them (but that would take more time unless you had a circle punch and turned it upside down to see where to make your punch). Hope that helps!

Use a sheet of SU! Grid paper, cut to the size of your card stock. Then, punch holes with your 1/2" hole punch, using the grid lines to line up the holes both vertically and horizontally. Then, use this as a template to mark where you want to stamp -- use a very light, fine pencil to outline the circles made from the holes onto your cardstock. After stamping, erase the pencil lines.

Sounds like a pain, but you'd only have to make the template once! Save it with your stamps to use over and over.

I love the grid paper, but I wouldn't have thought of that -- great idea!

Yet another awesome use for the grid paper - now I'm even more happy I've got it. Thanx for the tip!!

I wish I could claim the idea as my own Actually, my demo suggested using the grid paper to place eyelets and brads in a straight line. So, I was thinking why wouldn't it work for the punch too? I use the grid paper ALL the time. And a pad lasts forever (I use them for several days worth of stamping).

I've never bought the grid paper, maybe I will have to try that. I've found that if I'm trying to do a straight line of something I will stamp my middle image first, then I stamp in the middle of the image and the edge of the paper and I just keep doing it like that. I'm not sure why it works, but it helps me to line it up.

Great idea, Cat! Do you have a long reach 1/2 inch punch? Or do you fold the paper? I am trying to envision how to do this . . . must need more coffee!!!

I have the SU! punch - no long reach. So, just folded the paper. Since it's a template, the fold lines weren't an issue.
