My mono is now acting funnie, I think it has a cold cause it has all these little boogies all over it! The kind you gotta dig for! It is not sticking very well anymore either! I hear they changed the formula and was wondering what everyone else is using.
HELP!

I don't like the new mono as well as the old; I don't think it sticks as well--but I do like the new design. I still use it, but if I really want something to stick, I use double sided tape. The Scotch brand works well.
I use LePage double sided tape from the Family Dollar Store. It cost $1 a roll. Works just fine for layering and light duty things. I love SU Sticky Strip for heavy duty things.
I use repositionable Dotto/Hermafix acid-free adhesive (it feels like a "waste" to use a-f on the cards I make, but it is so durn convenient!). Another poster in another thread made the comment that her scrapbooks fell apart when she used this adhesive, but I've completed a scrapbook for my folks with the Dotto repositionable, and the first pages I made are still intact several weeks after I made them.
The Dotto comes on a roll in a hand-held dispenser that is easy to refill and easy to use. Any excess adhesive can be easily rubbed off of any surface. I will admit that at some times, the tension in the roll can vary a little as you use it. I just refilled my dispenser a few weeks ago, and the first week or two it rolled out very easily, and last night when I was using it I had to apply a little more pressure to get the adhesive to roll out. If I had to make my purchase all over again, though, I would still buy my Dotto!
I am using up the last of my mono refills and then switching to "Duck" brand. It's in the red cartridge. I ordered some from Viking and have used it a few times. I'm quite happy with it!
Did you get your mono from Viking? If so, give 'em a call and see what they say. They have superior customer service in my experience. I have heard (so I can't verify if it's true or not) that there was a bad batch and would be replaced. Mine is working great.
For tough areas that need extra hold, I go with Sticky Strip (SU). There are other brands which are similar, but since I get "points" and instant income for purchases (I'm a demo), I go through SU.
Good luck!
I bought the thermoweb tape runner.. I find it AMAZING.. I don't use my Mono anymore!! It is very sticky and the head pivots so that it can make a rounded corner, circle etc.. and it runs so nicely!! What a pleasure.

I have heard a rumor that SU will possibly start carrying Scotch double stick tape, has anyone else heard that?!? That would really make my day!!!
kath
I use the hermafix (dotto) PERMANANT dots dispenser and love it. I originally bought the repositionable but it would not stay together. LOVE the permanant.

No ... I won a gift certificate at a craft store and got about 5 mono refills. I was starting to get unhappy with it before that, but free is free!!!! I think I'm stuck on Duck now!!! (Pun intended!!)

YAY!!! Someone else on my side!! Dotto is my adhesive of choice. I've been using it about three years (repositionable) and have NOT had ANY problems with it!!! And in the interest of full disclosure, I use my Michaels & Joann's cupons to stock up

I am partial to mono, but haven't really had any problems with it all. I got a new batch, so I'll have to check it out. I also like double-sided Sotch (can get a bit messy though) and am addicted to photo tabs. They are fairly inexpensive as long as you use a coupon or get it when it is on sale. The photo tabs will NOT let go of anything!
I use all of the above! I use mono, Dotto, Duck & vario tabs-it all depends on what I am doing for what kind of adhesive I grab. Dotto doesn't hold ribbons as well as the mono, vario is super for just corners, etc.
sorry it took me a while to get back to you.. it is called a "memory TApe Runner XL" permanent bond made by Thermoweb... you gets lots of tape , sticks great, runs so smoothly, and like I said the head pivots so easy to get into tough spots.. Maybe they have it on their website?
I use the ANywhere glue sticks. they are inexpensive, and stick pretty darn good. Even better than the snail IMO. If there's something such as cord/ribbon that needs extra adhesive, I use sticky strip.
I will only use what I can sell... If I don't use it how do I expect my customers to want to use it??
I understand what you're saying, but as a customer I really appreciate it when my demo gives me a "heads-up" on a better product. I love SU and you can't beat their stamps, but sometimes they could do a little better in the accessories department. And sometimes SUs accessories are the best around.
I'm glad my demo recently recommended a non-SU adhesive to me, as soon as I use up my not-so-good-anymore Mono I will switch. It encourages me to buy from her when I feel she is looking out for me.
Just my two cents!

I bought this at Walmart after reading about it a few weeks ago on this board. I love it. The refill contains 600". I can't remember the price but I do remember that it was great buy. The dispenser runs smoothly thru the entire roll of tape and the pivot head is great.

well just about all my customers use Mono from Viking company now. I think that the snail is way to expensive and I don't push it. There are quite a few of my ladies that go together and order 3-4 boxes of Mono from Viking at a time.
Those who use glue sticks - do you have trouble with the cards buckling?
Mine buckled, so I am using mono now, which I havent had too many issues with yet, but I have a basket full of glues, tapes, dots, etc...cause I have to try everything!! lol;)
I still love the old Tombow Mono Adhesive. That's what StampinUp used to carry but I think they changed to another brand. I have never had a bit of problem with mine and I wouldn't think of using anything else. I get mine through Viking - if you buy a bunch at one time it's greatly reduced AND it arrives within 24hrs. of placing your order - over $25.00 and the shipping is Free. They also have great Customer Service! Good Luck!
I used to use the photo mount tape (those little squares) my gosh very time consuming. I then switched to double sided tape. Much better, but I'm seeing all the hype on mono/snail adhesives. I tried one a couple of years ago and found it hard to use. Are they really easy to use? What are cons of monos adhesives? What's the difference btwn mono and snail, or is that what SU calls them now?

Although I'm now hooked on the Duck adhesive dispensers, I used the Elmer's heavy duty craft glue stick (I think that's what it's called) for years, and I had no problems with it, except that it's messier to use. I only used it for paper or cardstock--no embellishments.
