Ok, I saw all the great new scrapbooking stuff at the Target $1 spot; too cute! But then I went to the back to school stuff, and the full size composition books are clearanced for .35 each!! My Target had tons of them!!! Pretty good deal if you ask me.

That's so tempting but I have a ton of them that I got last year clearanced at Wal-Mart. The ones I got last year were two big ones and two mini ones for 50 cents. Haven't seen the same packaging this year. I've been trying to stay out of the school supply stuff because I really got some super great deals at all type of cool things for stamping. My stockpile is huge, but I so love looking at all the items and seeing all the possibilities.
I bought way more than I need too.
They also have a big box of 50 pens, all in pretty colors for $2.78.
They are going to look fabulous with pretty paper and micro beads on them!
I found a ton of other things too, now if I only had time to play...
The target closest to me didn't have eyelets, tags, etc. They had cards, mini spiral notebooks, stickers, ribbon. i actually wasn't too impressed with what mine had.

I altered some of the addresse books. They were easy to do. One thing though, make sure you alter the front . When I took the pages out of one I altered the wrong side and the holes didn't match up when I tried to put it together so I altered both sides. Once you take it apart you can't tell front from back. Maybee leave price sticker on the back till after the front is done. I don't have A scanner or digital camera so I cant post pictures but I think they came out cute. I used heartfelt thanks .
I happen to stumble across the composition books yesterday as well. Couldn't pass them up. My daughter turns 5 on Saturday, so I am going to dress them up and personalize each one for the girls. I haven't decided if I am going to stamp the front or let the girls stamp and color the front as a station at the party. Love that Target!:-D
Have tried in several forums to find out about beaded pens. This is what I think I have:
Regular stick ballpoint
put on sticky stuff all over
roll in microbeads.
Is this right? Do you use paper, too?
Thanks!

The best pen most have found to use it the Pentel brand RSVP pen. I either use patterned paper or stamp on typing paper and cut to 3 x 1 1/4. Adhere with snail or glue stick to outside of pen (get as straight as you can, I go along the bottom black part). Wrap the paper with sticky strip (or other red backed sticky tape). Roll in micro beads. I then wrap my hands around the pen and squeeze to get the beads on there well.
Hope that helps!!

I forgot to add: I use the patterned paper or typing paper because cardstock is so thick it doesn't wrap very easily!
I use labels! Sticky, no adhesive needed! Just stamp right on the label. I then cut a piece of sticky tape to MATCH the size of the pen barrell. Then place sticky tape on the stamped label and cut the label to size. Place label on pen. Peel off red part of sticky tape and roll in micro beads! EASY!!!

You can also run the heat gun over the tape just before you press the beads on. I did this when I made my altered card tin and the beads seemed to stick better. Don't forget the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to take off the gold writing on the RSVP's!

thanks ladies... I just bought all my Target had of the composition notebooks... all 16 of them. Now this will be a very nice project for stamp camp and at a very reasonable price!!
thanks so much

You would take the gold writing off if you were just using a piece of designer paper inside the barrel, no microbeads covering it. Many people do this to match notebooks, calendars, etc. HTH!

Great tips! TFS. Off to Target tomorrow, thanks ladies

do you have to cover them with paper first? couldn't you use Terrifically tacky sheets cut to 1 x # 1/2 and then roll in the beads...since both sides are sticky? or is the paper to put in the inside??

I am at least an hour and half from any target...without a car at the moment.
Anyone willing to pick up ten of those comp books and ship them to me?? since they are BOOKS, they can be mailed "Media Mail"--bound printed matter...that is the cheapest way...DH is a postal worker HeHe.
Went there tonight and they had NO composition books. Maybe I'll check the other one that's further up the road tomorrow.

No way you can't say that! I drive all the way from Aransas Pass, just to go to San Antonios' Target! Sooo much better! We (and by that I mean Corpus) never have anything and I still have to drive 40 minutes to go to Corpus Christi's Target! Ugh!
I'm not from this area (Navy Wife) and you know it's bad when my toddlers ask me if we can go into the "Big City" to go to Target! They're a little addicted to the store too ;) I bribe them with Popcorn and slushees to let mommy shop!

I went to Target last night. I managed to resist the $1 spot. Got some nice things on the clearance aisle in stationery. There were corrugated notebooks, just begging to be decorated, for $1.15. And only one left of a cork covered notebook with a silver metal bookplate on the cover. How cool will that look stamped??!! In the school clearance aisle I didn't get any comp. books - just not feeling it right now. I did get mini magnetic clipboards that I plan to alter. Also, post-its that are shaped to do the acrylic frame post-it holder project. Mini RSVP's were on clearance and I grabbed some of those, too. I didn't see any full-sized RSVP's on sale at our store. Anyway, that's what I spent my $85 on last night!!

I cover them with paper first, then wrap with the sticky strip, then beads. I have seen some with just decorated paper inside, but I like the beaded pens the best.

Ok, Anna, when I say 'my' Target, it's actually 35 miles away! My DD had a check up with the doctor the other day and Madison has a great Target so we stopped and did a little shoppin' and bummin'! (the 3 older kids were in school).
The other Targets are all over 25 minutes away, too. My youngest calls it the circle store!
