Default Distress Inks Colour Combinations?

Has anyone seen a chart or list for combinations of Distress Inks that go well together?
I have heard they are all supposed to go well with one another, however I find that when using more than three colors everything starts to look muddy.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Its been suggested that you stick to three colors only and thats because the ink stays wet longer giving it blendability. Too many colors and they all run into each other- heading towards brown

Oh wow...I'd really like to know this too. I've just started using these and would appreciate any helpful techniques and tips. I have looked at the T. Holtz site which was informative.

Thanks!

I use distress inks alot. I usually stick to three colors - 2 colors and then one of the browns, black, weathered wood or pumice stone. Not always though...lol. Definelty Experiment with just 3 colors to begin with. just do a blind grab - they really do all look good together. Have fun! distress inks are addictive.

Some of my favorite combos right now ....
1. Peeled Paint, Faded Jeans, Brushed Cordory
2. Broken China, Shabby Shutters, Vintage Photo
3. Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge and Crushed Olive
4. Dusty Concord, Spiced Marmalade and Tea Dye
5. Bundled Sage, Stormy Sky and Frayed burlap

I never use more than three colours and as suggested just pick up a few without really looking....that way you will be pleasantly surprised with the outcome....

As with working with the alcohol inks, you do need to choose wisely or it will all blend to a muddy color. You don't want to put the colors directly on top of one another, but feather them together so they blend into one another, but still remain separate. The distress inks are not meant to be put on as a dark solid color.

Ok...could you explain how you do this? I have just started with these inks and have much to learn here.

Thanks!
