Default Did you know you can color Flocking?

I had a lightbulb moment yesterday when I went to grab some flocking for a card I was making. I love the fuzzy feel of flock, but the colors are kind of limiting. So... after I adhered my white fun flock, I reverse masked my image and used my Copic Airbrush to change the color of my flocking. It worked PERFECTLY! Yeah! Now I can have fun fuzzy stuff in over 300 colors!

Here is what my card looked like:

I did not know that!! Thanks for sharing! BTW, I've use flocking once (on the little wooly worm stamp) and did not like it at all....It wasn't thick and would flake off. I used a Tsukineko glue pad and wasn't impressed! What do you like to use for adhering flocking?

GREAT CARD!!!!

I use either versamark + Heat & Stick Powder or 'the Essential Glue Pad' (but I'm not sure what the company is. The pad doesn't say anything more.)

I apply a nice thick coat of adhesive, pour on the flocking, and then really press it down. Then, once it's had a chance to dry, I shake and flick my card stock to get the extra flock off.

If you want a really solid colored image, you can stamp the image in a solid color of ink and then stamp a second time with your adhesive of choice and then add flocking.

For my tree, I didn't want anything really opaque b/c I still wanted to see the top branches, so.... I colored in the tree trunk with Copics, reverse masked my image, applied glue directly from the glue pad, then added flocking. I didn't add any color to the top of the tree prior to airbrushing.

Hope that makes sense!

Julie, I keep hearing people talk about copics, but I'm not sure what they are! Are they markers or something? Sorry I'm sooo ditzy!! Karen

Oh man! I could go on and on about these! I'll try to keep it brief.

Yes, they are markers. They are alcohol based (vs. dye based) and are HEAVENLY! Basically... with a little practice, you can make your images look REALLY professional! Think... blending with no lines... almost a velvety, watercolored look. Plus, you can color things that you wouldn't normally be able to add color to. I -heart- them. But... they are expensive. It depends how serious of a crafter you are. Art students and cartoonists swear by them.
