I am converting part of my basement into a scrap room since my bedroom is becoming crowded. I am in need of some suggestions. I have looked at the layouts of some of the rooms but I wondered what is the best way to store the punches?
Also how is everyone storing their ribbon and embellishments? And if you are using a peg board, what do you put on the board?

Thanks all!
Punch storage - IKEA bygel bars.... It think they are the best! I just put mine up - love them. YOu can also get the hooks and hang baskets from them.
I don't have the Bygel rods...I just used regular curtain rods. But I put mine on the front of my shelving because I didn't have any wall space.

I just saw your picture of the curtain rod on the front of your shelving unit. It is awsome. It looks tidy and handy. I also don't have much wall space left and I put mine on the sides of the shelving. I am definately thinking now of changing it. Thanks for sharing your neat idea.
I got my shelving when the World Market store closed near me. In this economy check around, you may find some real deals like I did. Check it out in my gallery.

I love the pictures. I think my issues is now I am in a much bigger room and not sure how to organize it. I love the idea of putting the punches directly on the shelf and I love the bookcases.
I think I am one of those that like to "see" most of what I have or I'll forget to use it. But I am OCD and like things organized.
I love having my punches on the Bygel rail. They're so easy to grab. I used to have them in a drawer (before I had to many) and I always forgot they were there. For me, the most important this is that my desk doesn't face the wall. I have two tables butted up to each other in an L shape. The table that is against the wall is my paper cutting table and I use the table that faces out into the room.

I just moved into my new stamp room I have pics on my blog. I have my punches in storage boxes but I'm going to ikea this weekend. I just hope I have the wall space to get them all out of boxes.

I have some storage ideas on my blog and a few in my gallery here also.
*THUD* Oh, my....somebody with as much "stuff" as me! Only organized, lol! I just bookmarked your space in with the notation of "MIND BOGGLING." I know I'll be back to steal ideas. How big is your room, Debi? All the pictures are close in, so I couldn't really get an idea of the overall layout...

My craft room is in the basement too! I have a pic on my blog if you want to see it: Rene's stamp room.
I have my punches on kitchen rods from Ikea, but since you said you don't have an Ikea nearby any kitchen or curtain rod will work. My hubby made my ribbon holder for me and all my embellishments are in all sorts of containers hidden (now) in boxes!
Renee your stamp room is so neat. I think I saw it in the gallery and that is what made me think I would be ok in the basement.
oh, you bet. A basement can be perfect! I found that paint colour makes a huge difference. Keep the colours on the cool colour side and the bright level jumps astronomically!
I have two of these to store all my punches, ink pads, ribbon, fibers, acrylic stamps sets, cuttlebug dies, button tins, glitter, ink-its, etc. The short drawers allow me to lay everything out in a single layer. And the ribbon reels fit perfectly standing up in the bottom drawers.
I just switched my small stamping room for my son's larger room (we're trying to make him as uncomfortable as possible so he'll move out sooner). It also a guest room - I have a bed and then everything else is my stamping stuff, including the closet.
I bought these at Ikea too. I love the table its the perfect height to stand at and cuttlebug or emboss.
and the cd shelf is thin and tall, so it takes up very little space for my unmounteds.
Ok so I go shopping on Friday. I am getting some carpet to put down there and my son and his friend helped me move some of the furniture. I maybe should have painted the walls a different color though. I kept them more neutral.
I am going to take a trip out to IKEA so wish me luck! I am hoping to have the picture up by Sunday. And best of all I didn't see any creepy crawlers!

If people have a spare room that only has a single or single beds in it I saw where someone on a sewing forum just put up saw horses and sheet of laminated board to have a large cutting surface to stand at - obviously it you ever need to use the bed everything would have to be moved, however, I thought it was a brilliant idea to make "double" use of a single space.
I studied all the spaces I could here on SCS before I started my room. I kept thinking I have way more stuff then that! Last week I finally searched "space" on the gallery at Twopeasinabucket and found tons of spaces that have as much "junk" as mine.
I keep thinking my room will be done and I can post pictures soon but then I find more stuff to unpack!
I did post a picture last week of my Bygel rods. My advise......buy more than you think you need. They only cost $2-3 and I blew through the ones I got. I also bought the 99 cent bag of S hooks that go with the rods. Now I make anything hand anywhere!
Here are my rods again. I attached them to plywood first so that I could attach the board to the wall studs and avoid so many holes in the wall too.

prchvs, what a totally fabulous stamp room - what a fantastic job you did - TFS

That's a good idea. We only use the bed a few times a year anyway.
My table (I stand at it, not sit) is 4 low bookcase-type cabinets for lots of storage with a piece of counter on top, and that has a cutting mat on the whole thing (I got the cutting mat at Joann's)
