Default Compensation for your cards

Hi~ Hope Im in the correct section, but I have a question. I am on a design team for a small rubber stamp company. This is their first time having a DT although they have been in business for 8? or 9? years. The owner sent me an email saying she would like to have my sample cards I make for the blog each week. She would be happy to compensate me for the cards. My question~ what would be a fair compensation for both her and I? I get about 8 unmounteds a month from them. Thanks for your help.

Honest answer? Usually those free stamps and your name out there plus the option to purchase items at a discount is the norm. At least for the three teams I've worked on and known.

Congrats and good luck.

Free product should have NOTHING to do with compensation. You need the product to create the items. Factor in your time including- creating, photographing or scanning, editing, wring directions and materials used to make the card.

I've been doing this as income for 6 years.

I agree with NikiM. By using their stamps, you are promoting their product, which is increasing their sales. If they want the actual card made, you should be compensated for that separately. (Unless it is in the initial agreement when you agreed to the DT terms to send in cards). I've been compensated with either money or gift certificates when I send in actual cards, in addition to the complimentary stamps. I do know that some companies want the card samples, and others don't, it all depends.
