that is funny.. someone quickly got their panty in a wad.. haha..
and dawn.. i think to make a point.. and let innocent buyers beware that they will receive this set MUCH cheaper than the 40$ they are selling it for.. i think one went for over $40.
just crazy.
i had script.. a very sought after stamp that i didnt use.. it sells very high on ebay.. and i sold it on here for what i paid for it.. simply because my conscious will not allow me to intentionally RIP someone off. it was a stamp set i rarely used.. (prefer french script more) and i never used it.. so i sold it to someone who would.. and gave them a good deal..
i just dont understand why other people cant receive joy out of something as simple as that.
I hope this doesn't happen but I bet it gets pulled b/c nothing is actually getting sold and that is against ebay policy, she should add something for sale (not against SU policy) just so this doesn't get pullled..this is a great idea though..congrats to her!!!

Would have been nice if she had told the whole story in who could sell this set and who couldn't :( IMO she is pointing fingers that demo's only are selling this set when I don't think that is the case. My gut says that most of these sets were given (ya know, the same way SU GAVE them to you as a GIFT) and their friends are the one selling them.
If my BF wanted to give me her set (wouldn't that be nice LOL but I know it will never happen!) and I listed it on Ebay than that is my choice and since I sell many things on Ebay without her knowing I don't believe that is breaking any "rules".
Not to start up your debate again but SU! GAVE something away as a GIFT to all demo's. Its not a current set (YET). Has SU! come to their senses yet and clarified their wording on "gift"? It is my understanding that whether you are an employee or a friend if something is given to you by ANYONE you are entitled to do what you want with it (there are legal issues when it comes to a gift....any lawyers out there?)
IMO I think the person who "listed" that on Ebay is deceiving people into believing that the set is going to go for $10 and that only Demo's are selling it on Ebay. And for the record....not much in life is free....all those sets that you got for "free" were paid for with the money your company made off of us customers!
Shouldn't this be on your demo boards only anyway???
karinlm-I am not sure if I am reading unintentional hostility from your post, but I am hoping it is just because I am tired.
I think MOST demos who would give this set to a friend would be surprised to see it sold. If I gave it to my sister for Christmas, I would be offended if she sold it. I think it is safe to say the majority of people who are selling this on ebay are doing so in order to gain profit from offering an item that is not intended to be sold in this manner. They are therefore gathering bids on it by marketing it as a "buy it before it is available" item, rather than here is something I got but I am unable to use.

yup, just like any job, being a demo has perks. I work HARD as a demo to follow-up with my customers and to make the time they spend with me FUN. So, I EARNED a set. Many companies give incentives to their workers, this time it happens to be a set.

To all my wonderful SCS friends,
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday!!! I can't wait to see what great creations you all bring to the gallery in the new year! Thanks for the inspirations. Love you all!!
Would it be against Stampin Up rules to sell a sell-a-bration mini catalog? I was thinking of posting a simular auction about the sell-a-bration sets being sold, but if ebay policy says you have to sell something I thought I could list the mini for sale & hope no one really bids. I just wonder if that would violate something with Stampin Up. Of course I wouldn't want to do that. If it is a violation what else could I list as for sale? I think if it's not stampin up related item ebay will pull it for that too.
This makes me so mad. That lady is selling the free set is also selling the sell-a-bration sets. I hate it when people take advantage of people.
As if I need to continue to beat a dead horse...but I will!!
I get upset at seeing current sets on ebay, (oh, and the mini catties are current until the next catty comes out!)..and my SU! customers do too!! One of my very best customers called me just to complain!! I told her that demo's weren't allowed and to give that person the benifit of the doubt...they probably purchased something they didn't want and are trying to just get thier money back (then refered her to this site to get the sets that she wanted!! ha ha ebay!) Im not going to sit here and say that I don't bid on things that I want, because I do. But, I believe that many of these listings cannot possibly be customers because they are selling items only demo's get...common sense states that they are demos listing. If they were true SU! Demos, then they cherrish thier stamps...I love my new 'gift'...Give it away, NO WAY...I told my mom she's was bottomed out and would have to wait for the promotion or start demo'ing herself to get the good stuff...
I don't usually post personal opinions on this site, but I really feel like this is horrible. Something else Ive wondered...how does SU track the demo's that do this? How can they find out if they are demos? I would seriously like to know how!!
Am I missing something in the listing? It looks like a valid e-bay listing to me, so if people starting bidding isn't she selling it?
The eBay auction clearly states nothing is for sale. This is indeed clever.
If nothing else, this SU demo who listed this 'auction' is, IMHO, protecting the SU name.
By informing the general stamping public of the upcoming SU March promotion, which will include this set as I understand it, this demo could prevent a new SU customer or uninformed SU customer of spending two to three or more times the actual price they could pay in March.
I think of how I feel when I purchase something retail, only to find it on sale at a discount a few weeks/days later?
On the flip side of the coin, with the 'buzz' and spotlight on this set, having it available before the new catty at a discounted price in March will set my sales afire, to be sure.
And it is one dandy set if I do say so myself. A verse for every occasion. Thanks SU!
Good job...you said what most of us only think or want to say but never do. Way to go! Thank you from all of us S.U. demos. I, for one, love the new stamp set and am excited that we received it from Stampin Up.

If you look at the original post link--to the great demo that ISN"T selling her set, you will see that the above person who is selling her set is also the one who tried to bid on the *not for sale* set! Rotten!!!
I read the line that says nothing is for sale but there is a starting bid of .01, so once someone starts that bid the auction is valid. I fully agree it is unfair for demos to get the sets early and begin listing them on e-bay or have someone else do it, they should honor the company policy.

She retracted her bid and the bid on her auction was retracted also. So she now has no bids on it.
