The surprise arrived today! WOW - that's all I have to say. Thank you so much!! She sent me an enlargement of one of her photos. It's absolutely stunning. I wish I could take pictures like that!

I also received more cards today, but I haven't been able to sort through them. We're having car races (like cub cars) at our church tomorrow and I'm responsible for doing the race roster. It's quite an undertaking with 60+ cars. I'll update in the next couple of days though. The cards arrived from my demo, my LSS and TNewhook.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Here's the new total: 2,467!

Thank you to those that gave/sent the last batches of cards. The number keeps creeping up.

Have a great rest of the weekend (only a few hours left). :(

Excellent achievement. Thank you for hosting this giant event. It was a
pleasure to work on the cards, knowing that they will have an impact on
our lonely troups out there.

So...somebody from Calgary sent me an envelope of cards (on the front they first put my last name as my SCS name then changed it and put "oops, sorry"). Can you please tell me if you sent them? There was no return address and no note inside.

I can do a new card total once I know! (yes, that's blackmail ;) )

Thank you.

Well, I don't know if catt871 (Chris) is blond or not, but she's the one that had the blond moment and sent me the "unnamed package". :p

I've received 4 packages in the last week - one from a retirement residence where the seniors made some cards, one from Chris, one from Tammy (TNewhook) and one from a friend.

That brings our total up to 2,706! Thank you!!

Robin, I wil PM you my address so you don't have to go searching.

While I'm here, thought I'd put in a new card total. I received another package from TNewhook (thank, Tammy - they were beautiful!), one from a lady who stamps at my LSS and another lady through another network gave me a bunch of cards. It's neat to see the word spreading! So the total is 2,764. Have a great rest of the day, everyone!

Hello all! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. We travelled to my SIL's in Manitoba to surprise her for her 50th birthday. Her daughter showed up Thursday, we showed up Friday and two of her sisters came on Saturday. It was a lot of fun! My BIL raises sheep so we got to see baby lambs. We took WAY too many pictures.

So, in the midst of trying to get ready to leave, a few packages arrived but I didn't have time to do an update. I received packages from TNewhook and annascreations, as well as cards from two other sources. The new card total is 2,884. Thanks again!!

Hello all,

I can tell people are getting busy with more activities again. The cards have been trickling in a little slower. But that's all right - I know how hectic life can get! We're starting lacrosse and extra ballet practices so our evenings and weekends just got busier.

I do have a new card total though. A friend of mine met up with someone while she was visiting her parents and got a box of cards. The total is now at 2,944!

Hi everyone,

Doing two things here: new card total (2,956) thanks to cards that arrived from TNewhook!

And a Monday afternoon bump - it's been pretty quiet on this thread lately. Hope everyone's doing alright.

I had an envelope of cards arrive yesterday from someone who didn't include their name.

Anybody willing to "fess" up or will I just have to do the card count from anonymous?

Hi Jacqueline! Good to hear from you. Is this back to work after your surgery? Life here is going to get very busy - my son starts lacrosse next week (we just went through drills camps and evaluations), my daughter has extra practices for her ballet performance the end of May and she's getting ready for a trip with our church over the summer to Costa Rica (meaning lots of meetings getting prepared). It's all good, though!

Take care and talk to you soon!

OH - Tammy - your cards arrived on Friday - will do a new card total soon.

Carolyn

I sent an envelope of cards, most of them were in clear envelopes to hold them together and some French cards. I can't remember if I put a return address on them or not, as they were kind of rushed to get to the post office. Was that your mystery envelope?

I bet it was you, Robin! The envelope postage tag said Red Deer, and the contents of the package sounds right. So, you get the credit.

Now I can do a new card total, and we broke a milestone! We are at 3,006! Whoohoo - give yourselves a hand. I know I have some cards to do up here (I did a make and take at a scrapbook retreat this weekend, and not all the ladies did the cards so I have extra kits) plus a friend of mine picked up some cards from a lady this weekend. The number is still growing!

By the way, for anybody that's interested, the roads from Spruce Grove to Edmonton are SHEER ice! Be careful driving if you're in that area. I'm so glad my hubby was driving.

Late good evening!

My son had a lacrosse tournament all weekend, so I didn't have a whole lot of computer time. Those of you involved in sports know how that goes.

I do have a small increase in cards, though. I made the cards that were left over from the make and take last weekend at the scrapbooking weekend I was at, and a friend delivered some cards from another lady. With those two, our total is now at 3,043.

Anybody planning on sending some cards soon? I'm planning a trip to the Edmonton Garrison in mid-May, so any cards received up to May 14 will be included in this next delivery.

If not, I'll catch them next time. Just wanted to give you a heads up!

Happy Friday, everyone!!

Actually, my problem here is I am technically challenged. I see where you are current. OOPS, but seriously, I always make three of every card I create, one to keep for reference, one for the project and one to give away. So sign me up.

I don't really "sign you up". If you have cards you want to send (although if you want to support your American troops I know there are similar projects in the States and through SCS). The cards I'm collecting are going to our Canadian military.

When you're ready to send a batch of cards, PM me and I'll give you my address.

It's admirable to hear you make 3 cards of each project! I'm never that organized.

OK, will do...as soon as I figure out how to "PM" someone. I just asked Nannette so hopefully I will eventually figure out all of these "secret" codes and processes and be on the same level with all the rest of you guys so you don't have to answer my continual string of dumb questions! But and this is the key..I am having fun Thanks

There are no dumb questions! Sorry for the secret code. To PM (private message) me, I find it's easiest to be in the forum thread ("Canadian Military Need our Support", for example), find the person you want to send a message to and click on their username. It will bring a list of things you can do (look at their gallery, look at their profile, send a private message...), click on the one you want to do and it'll take you there.

Hope that helps you out! Keep having fun! ;)

Hi Carolyn -life has been crazy for me since I went back to work but I will try and wrangle up some more cards probably at the beginning of June but don't wait for mine to come. I will also have a whole whack of Christmas ones (it is sad they will still be over there for Christmas) and the retiring list comes out in a few months and I am attending convention. So, I should have a whole whack in June, July and August!!!

Hi Jacqueline,

You are busy! Looking forward to seeing your cards whenever they arrive. As long as cards keep coming, I'll keep collecting. I already have quite a collection of Christmas cards that I'm saving to send in late August/early September.

A word of advice to anybody mailing cards (I think I've mentioned this before on this forum): use the express post envelopes rather than regular mail. It's a flat rate and you can stuff it as full as you want - no weight restriction. There are medium envelopes and large envelopes (maybe there are small ones, too - my packages have always been bigger than that).

I received a package yesterday from Central Public School in Woodstock, Ontario. I'm thinking the connection was from here? Anyway, a teacher had her class do a "Pay it Forward" - the cards were beautiful! I'm going to leave them together in the envelope with the letter so that the military know what an awesome group of students these kids are. Now the card total is at 3,071. Thanks to the wonderful teacher who helped her students see beyond their classroom. We need more people like her!

Have a beautiful Saturday, and Happy Mother's Day to all you awesome mom's out there. :p

Default Desperately Need Handcrafted Cards!

Hello all,

This message will be fourfold:
1) I got to meet Bira last Friday - what a joy to meet another SCSer and receive her cards for the military!
2) Her cards boosted our total to 3,095!
3) When I took the cards into the Edmonton Garrison they were thrilled to receive them. The soldiers overseas have snatched up all the cards, are totally out (except for the ones I just took in) and are wondering when more will be arriving. A couple snippets from e-mails from them: "what a hit these cards are", "no doubt they will be filled out, addresed and returned on the same supply run to hit the mailboxes in short order", "I wish to pass on my thanks to the group for their generosity and time spent manufacturing these cards. They will go to good use."
4) We need more cards! If they are totally out, that means there are soldiers that don't get this special opportunity to connect with their family members at home.

Please help out by sending me few cards or many cards. I would love to be able to take in another big batch very soon.

Please PM me if you require more info, my address or whatever! Please! I'm begging! Please! :p

Carolyn, when I get back from the UK mid June, I'll go thru my stash again and send some more. Just sent 400+ to our local Hospice for fund raising then came across more boxes in another cupboard that have a whole load of swap cards in!! Have a great day.

Just wanted to let you know that when you send cards, DON'T send envelopes! Hallmark just donated a bagfull and told me to come back every couple of weeks for the same amount - isn't that awesome? :p

So, save the weight on your packages.

Have a good afternoon, everyone!

Carolyn, I have been thinking of you lately. I'll get some photo cards out to you asap. The Pay-It-Forward teacher made me smile. I forget how important that is. And how important it is to teach children to think of others.

Don't have time to sort them, Loretta! Carolyn knows I just get a big fat bubble Xpress envy and stack it full with as many cards as I can!! I may leave some swaps behind with Robin as I have to be careful with the weight of my luggage these days.

Call me ignorant, but what is EE 2? And who is Robin? Sorry...the curiousity got the better of me.
