Default Calling gardeners and botanists

I have these two stamps, one from Nature's Wonders and one from Close to Nature, that I never use because I can't ID them. Does anyone know definitively what they are? Or are they just some ambiguous shrub?
Thanks!

The stamp image from Close To Nature is holly.
The other image might be basil or sage--I'm not sure. Hope someone can ID it so we'll both know.

I love this website & forum, though I'm usually a "lurker" as you'll see from my number of posts!

Default holly?

Hmm... now, I don't have the set, so I must say that I am not totally sure, but I am a biology major with a focus in botany and from the looks of the stamp, I hate to disagree, but it is not any holly I have ever had to identify. Holly leaves generally have obvious points. It looks to me as if it is almost mistletoe, the leaves are about the right shape, so are the berries (though they would be white, not red as you have colored them).

My best guess for the first link, it is very difficult when the plant is not original size and color, I would say it resembles teaberry. Teaberry is generally small, deep green, and after the flowers, has tiny red berries. The image I see has them still in the flower stage.

I would use the stamps anyway, they would be perfect for a subdued card (sympathy or elegant birthday).

Yeah, I'm with you. I've never seen holly like that either. LynneBee, do you have a varietal or species name you can direct me too? If I have a name, I can google for a picture.

I also don't think the other stamp is sage or basil -- I grow both of those in my garden and they look very different.

I never thought of these for a sympathy card, but I think that's a super idea.

Default Boy was I wrong

Guess I hadn't had my second cup of coffee, or was influenzed by the red berries, when I said the first one was holly.
Only guessing on the other stamp.
Both are really nice images, so use and enjoy.

Lynn

April, I consider myself welcomed. Guess two posts in one day takes my out of the "lurker" category--LOL

I do an extensive amount of flower and herb gardening, and I don't have any idea what the first one is. The second looks an awful lot like my Japanese Crabapple tree! Probably just a "reminiscent of a berry bush" stamp. :-)

I thought the second one was a blueberry plant.

I would guess if you emailed Stampin Up that their customer service dept would find out for you.

it's possible that the "close to nature" stamp is mistletoe. see this website for a couple of pictures:
http://www.state.tn.us/environment/t...e/mistltoe.htm

for the "nature's wonders" stamp i'm guessing a flowering crabapple. the image in the site below shows only one crabapple, but the tree down the street has the very tiny bunches that are shown on the stamp. i think the stamp is an apple tree by the shape of the leaf.
