Default Blender pens and pastels

I just got my blender pens in the mail today (I've been MOST excited all weekend) but when I went to use them with my chalks (pastels) more specifically the Soft Subtles, very little, if any, colour seemed to transfer. They seemed to work ok for the darker colours. I'm afraid I'll have to revert back to Q-tips! Any thoughts?

You're using SU's blender pens & pastels right? I've never had a problem w/ them - the first time I used them I did a card in all subtles colors and it turned out great! Make sure the pens are stored horizontally - w/ the double ended tips you don't want to be using a tip that may be partially dry. I also only use the blender pens on US Cardstock - I think they work smoother that way so you don't have to apply hardly any pressure. Also, when using blender pens w/ pastels I stick to either the upper right or left corner of the pastel b/c you can see the clear ink affects the pastel slightly so I tend to stay in the corners - so far no problems! HTH
