Default birthday party craft

Hi
My daughter is turning 10, and wants to have some friends over and make something.

Does anyone have any ideas that I can prepare? I know the local scrapbook stores offer to have birthday parties, but I don't know what they do?

Thanks
Aft.

they could make bookmarks or picture frames!
i remember these days- having them do a craft eats up some time and at that age the more you can keep them busy the better!
good luck and have fun!

I am doing a birthday party for 13 year-olds on Friday this week and we are going to be altering lunch tins, plus a couple of simple cards. There is a template here somewhere...for a lip balm holder card...very cute and perfect for that age!!

My daughter turns 12 this year and we are having a birthday party at the local scrapbook store during a free crop this week...I reserved ten spots...for her and nine other girls. I am bringing all the stuff to make a paper bag scrapbook and will have all the papers cut out to the right sizes. The girls will just pick out their papers and embellish the pages and glue stuff on. I am going in earlier this week to use ther Pazzle (I think that is what it is called) die cut and have words cut out for them to use too. Sarah will pick out the papers. I figure during the crop they can use the punches and whatever else the LSS has for them to use during the crop for their little books. I will bring a few snacks and maybe her birthday cake and then we will all trek out to eat lunch somewhere.

The goodie bag for each girl will have glue and letter stickers and ribbons and soem chipboard accents and some other little embellishments that they can use on their books. I figured this will cost me next to nothing since I have so much stuff at home already and I have gathered some other things from dollar spots and clearance and sale items at other stores. I just needed a bigger space to accomodate all the girls to spread out their stuff and put it together. It should be a fun time together. Can't wait!

My ten year old did altered clipboards for her sleepover craft last summer. The girls really enjoyed it--the only thing I would change is limiting the colors of inks and papers they could use--or stamp sets--so the end products all looked a little better (but they enjoyed picking their own.) I painted the clipboards before hand.

I think they would also enjoy making binders--I will probably do that this summer but again, give them one set of papers and stamps/colors to work with.

The nice thing about a more free-form end product like scrapbook pages or notebooks, etc. is that they can talk a lot while they are crafting, and I think they love that--as opposed to having to listen to detailed instructions.

(I would love for my daughter to go to a scrapbooking night out!)

For my daughter's 9th last year, we did altered notebooks and beaded pens. I put the paper on the notebooks in advance so it would have time to dry, then let them do all the other stuff they wanted: fibers, ribbons, etc along the spirals, embellishments (cut out flowers, their names, etc), then we beaded pens to match (I attached designer paper and sticky strip in advance-- they choose which pen). They did all the beading themselves and had a blast with it. There were 10 girls so all the notebooks were with a different paper, pens matched, so that they knew their own at a glance. I had pre-stamped some white lunch bags with handles, and put some candy in them, so with the notebook and pen that was their party favor.

This year I will use my new Bind-It-All to make each girl her own journal.
HTH!

These mini albums would be really ideal for a little girl's birthday party!
