Default big shot exspress

I just bought the big-shot express machine. I have followed the instructions very carefully on how to cut the metal dies.

The problem I am having is that with my machine it will not cut out the Spellbinders dies with the sandwich they advise. I tried putting shims of card stock but the machine freezes and shuts off.

Any idea's on what I can do to cut with this machine these die's. I wrote the sizzix company but they did not respond so okay girls Please help me !!!

I cut Nesties with a friend's machine last week. We used the large white base plate, a clear plate, the Nestie with paper on top, and the clear plate. It worked fine. Is that the sandwich you're using?

I was cutting Papertrey CS. What were you cutting? If you're cutting a thinner paper, you probably need a light, thin shim. I know you've tried shims, but have you tried several different thicknesses?

My mom bought the BS for me last year and I had this problem with my QK and the Nesties too. When we contacted Sizzix, they wanted us to buy their extender (for $10), but they didn't have it in stock, not for another 2 Months!! So we went to a Glass shop and bought 2 Acrylic pieces from their scrap pile and paid only $2 for both. And it when I cut with my Nesties and QK, it works Perfectly! Thats what we did to fix our problem. Maybe give that a try? The paper shim thing didn't work for us, it just made the BS get "stuck" and not budge when you turn it on.

Good luck and let us know what ended up working for you

Are you placing int the middle of the sandwich? If you place it to close to the front edge that could be a problem.

I bought a big shot express a couple months ago and have been loving it. It doesn't come ready to use with nestabilities, though! You'll need to buy the multipurpose platform (with the different tabs) to be able to use nesties. I looked on the box at the pictures and descriptions of what dies/embossing could be done with the big shot express and nesties/wafer thin dies were not on the list, so right away I bought the multipurpose platform just to be safe. With the multipurpose platform, you just use both tabs along with your two clear plates. Nesties work perfectly with it. I love the big shot express even more than the cuttlebug that I was using previously. It cuts more cleanly with nesties than the cuttlebug. And it has really saved my arms! You'll love it! Hope this info helps!!
