I am getting rid of many of my stamps, keeping only my favorites & those with larger images. I have Parkinson Disease and it has progressed .........
NO, I am NOT giving up STAMPING! I am a lot slower, as the slight tremors (despite my meds) make many of the images - especially small and detailed ones harder to color staying within the lines.
SO.....I am going to keep either the Canvas BG, or the Linen BG. I have the Just Jeans BG which I am keeping for my Pocket Fun set. The Linen set just doesn't seem to show much - where as the Canvas stamp looks much clearer.
I am only going to keep ONE - please help me decide as I have not used either one of them yet.
Also.........I have a ton of stamps in the Sell section of BST if anyone is interested and they are at great prices. If you don't see anything, this is just the beginning. I have probably 50-80 more sets to list - many are UM and some Very hard to find sets. Please check back often. Heading is - Must Sell - Parkinsons Progresses - stampfunny'
Please let me know what all of you think - the more replies the better - also, if you have a reason why you like one over the other, that would help too.
Many thanks to all of you!
Blessings,
Debbie

It's a tough decision between Linen and Canvas. Such a different look. I think it would depend on what other sets you are keeping. I like the Canvas for more masculine sets, I think, while I prefer Linen for more feminine sets. Don't know if that helps you or not. I'm sorry your Parkinsons has led to this. My mom was a Tailor by trade and she was diagnosed with R.A. when she was 38yrs old. While it has certainly impacted how much she's been able to do, and it's slowed her down and causes pain, she has still managed to find a way to craft somehow. I hope you are able to do the same.
I prefer Linen, but don't have canvas to compare. I chose linen because it was softer-looking and that's what I wanted. You really can't go wrong with either, IMHO!
Just Jeans is fairly subtle, as is the Linen. I didn't get Just Jeans before it went out of the catalogue, but I do have the Pocket Fun. Linen makes a "denim" look on the pocket just fine. If you are only keeping Just Jeans for the pocket set, you might want to rethink. I would keep the Linen & the Canvas and give away the Just Jeans. I think the Linen is far more versatile than the Just Jeans.

stampfunny........Yes, this comment is rather off topic from crafts, but the original poster brought up the subject.
Keep with your craft no matter what physical ailment or stage you may develop. It's important to keep one busy with something you love doing. Gives your life a purpose. Don't be so concerned with what it looks like. It's the best you can do do to the circumstances and besides others won't be so critical. You need to keep your craft even if only from time to time. Keeps your mind active and your spirits up. Think of your craft as therapy.....active mind and high spirits will go a long way to having you feel useful and productive.
Please post your work as you go along. I would love to see it for inspiration!
I just wanted to offer you ((hugs)). My dad has Parkinson's and it is progressing so quickly that he has the Dr.'s baffled. I kind of understand what you're going through and wanted to offer some encouragement.
Very sorry to hear about the progression of your Parkinson's. That stinks! But I'm glad to hear that you're going to keep stamping - not letting the disease win is a great attitude!
I personally *LOVE* canvas. I think it is very versatile in that it can give a modern look, an aged look, a moulded look...depends only on what techniques you use and what you pair it with. I think that linen is okay, but I can achieve a "linen-look" very simply with sandpaper and it doesn't offer as much versatility.
Just my own opinion, though. Take it for what you need! ~ kbc

I'm so sorry to hear that you have to deal with this challenge. That's really what it is, a challenge to overcome.
I'd say keep the canvas (since it's a classic and easier to get a good image from. I also think you should keep any two step stamps you have. You won't have to color them and you can use a stamp a ma jig to help you guide your stamps into place.
My great aunt had parkinsons and created beautiful paintings with her paint brush in her teeth. Perhaps you'll be able to find ways to stay creative. It's such a necessary piece of maintaining your mental and spiritual health!! ...And spiritual and mental wellness is worth more important than anything this physical body can do to us!!!
