Default Baby Shower Ideas Needed

I am planning a baby shower for my best friend; It's her 2nd child, but her first shower was on the sad side... her daughter was born super early and was in the NICU during the "emergency shower" and my BFF spend most of the shower crying... as we all did! So as she already has a lot of basics; I still want her to have a lovely shower and get to experience some of what she missed at her first shower!

Here are my ideas so far:

Theme: books; children's books... golden books... favorite childhood books...

Her first dtr is visually impaired... so I thought it'd be a nice gesture to ask guests to... "Please bring a favorite classic children's book for the Big Sister. (Large print suggested)." I figured I could insert a small card... like the baby registry cards... inside the invite to promote this idea. As an additional gift I will make book plates for the big sister... or find a suitable bookplate stamp.

Invites: My mom collects Golden Books so I figured I might just scan and reduce a classic GB cover to incorporate into the invite design... but I am open to ideas here... perhaps a paper than mimics the "golden book" style binding???

Favors: my only idea is a bookmark.... but I don't think that is enough really... I really need ideas here.

Thanks all! Feel free to suggest anything!

I think you came up with a great theme for the shower. A book of poems to go with the bookmark would make a nice gift for the winner of a game. And maybe small address books for favors. My brain isn't working right now, but I'll keep thinking!

I love the Poetry book idea... maybe I will get some other books for prizes as well... I had forgotten about games!

Any other favor ideas?? Something to package with a bookmark?

Maybe a small bag of munchies to have with the bookmark but to be honest I think the bookmark is a nice favor in itself! I love your theme idea!

As far as games one that might be fun is to include a line from a classic children's book and have your guests guess which one it is. I have done this same game with children's songs and it is a big hit. The one that always gets them is the line Don't bother me. . .it is from the song Shu Fly!

Thats very sweet! I love the idea of using the gold binding of the books. you could incorperate it into everything. I will always recognize those books from the binding! I like the book mark idea, and the poetry book for the games winner. One game I was thinking of could be a guess the title of the golden book. I know my memory is fuzzy there.

We did a book theme for my best friends baby shower. We asked everyone to bring a favourite childhood book and a memory about it. We then took pictures of the guest with their book and got them to write out the memory on a strip of card stock, I took all the pictures & memories and put them into a scrapbook for my friend. It was a fun shower game.

As for favours what about mini-brag books that they can fill in at home? (The 3X3 or something?). Or fill them with pictures of the babies family & quotes from their favourite books.
