There was a thread recently about this. Maybe there are some ideas here you can use...

I live in the far west suburbs of Chicago, but rarely go downtown. Which is a shame, because Chicago is such a great city! Have fun!!

Are you going to be Downtown Chicago or in one of the suburbs? I live right outside of the city and could give you some places to visit in the city or north or west suburbs depending on where you'll be. (Don't say east -- you'd be in the lake

Well, for scrapbooking stores here are some I frequent:
If you are in the northwest suburbs check out Creative Scrapbooks or More than Memories.
If you are in the northern suburbs, don't miss Fine Arts Scrapbooking.

For stamping, I too like Stampology on the northwest side of the city.

Hope this helps.

In DesPlaines (near O'Hare) there is a small store called Carolina Moon. The store may be small, but is is full of a lot of interesting things. You'll especially like it if you are in to collage and altered art. Not so much if your style is more cute.

Okay, I have to weigh in for the SouthWest suburbs here. We have Stamp Thyme

http://www.stampthyme.com/

And there are a few Archivers scattered around the Chicago area, including one in Orland Park.

Yeah, Stampthyme is great!!! I could spend hours just browsing in there. Between that place and the Orland Park Archiver's I'm going to be homeless soon!! Stampthyme is great for stamps, but I think Archivers is better for embellishments, paper, accessories, etc. Just my two cents, which is about all I'm going to have left if I don't stay out of those places!!

I was in the Addison area of Chicago this past winter and I mapped all the places I wanted to go to from my hotel, plus from store to store. That really helped. I am totally "Directionally Challenged", so I have no clue where I was ;) but I found The Cottage Stamper in St. Charles. I fell in love with them. They carry a tons of AMuse stamps. Plus, the service I received was the best out of all the stores I went to. If its not too far away, I highly recommend them. http://www.thecottagestamper.com/

Good luck and have fun! I'm very envious!

I just thought of one more up north in Evanston. This may not be your thing, but I love this hobby shop called Tom Thumb Hobby Shop. They have a fantastic selection of PSX stamps, an older line, which I just adore. They also have tons and tons of other rubber stamps, but I go there for the PSX.

The Cottage Stamper is a AWESOME store! It just 2 block from Rt 64 or Main street & 1 block west of Rt 31.
Behind the Napa Auto Parts Store..

At one time I use to live across the street from this place.
And I worked at the Napa Store too.. It was hard for me not to spend my paycheck in there store.

They have Great Classes too.
