You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
I have to chime in here and say that I and so HAPPY that all of you, you know who you are (too many to list) redirected this thread. I read this when it first came out and wanted to say something, but didn't and kept my mouth shut.
It's nice to know that people can turn something that could've been VERY UGLY into something that people actually want to respond to.
All of you can turn things around and make it into something good and fun to participate in.
If you ever feel up for some more silly chit chat...I'll be over in fun & games with the dancing bananas. We are super silly over there...and anyone is welcome. As long as you can be silly!

Thanks for the fun evening
I thought the stamper's caulk to fix the stamper's crack was the funniest thing eva!! It sounds like something my boyfriend would say...right before I slap him.

Yikes, I think I missed a whole ugly thread! Yeah. To get back to the OP, I don't do VSN simply because I get anxious when given directions! It's why I quit my book club. Once I'm under the gun to create something that has rules, I freeze. but I love seeing what everyone else does!

Wow, I never thought I would get to the end of this thread.......it just kept getting longer and longer...............
Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that I want to participate in the next VSN if I'm available.......sounds AWESOME!!!!
Ok, I agree that there are some cards which are lacking in a few areas. Heck, there are several VSN cards of mine where I *reaaaally* don't like the result! But I believe it's part of our own creative process and a way to grow and become comfortable and to identify our own style.
I'm not sure how a few days of VSN 'clog' things up here, tho...everything seemed to be running smoothly, in my opinion.
As for comments - I try to offer constructive and supportive criticism. If you see a card you find lacking, figure out what it's missing and leave a supportive comment. How else can we grow if our stamping peers won't offer some suggestions.
Then again...maybe those who want creative feedback will ask for it and those who don't won't ask?
Hehehe....reminds me of what Donald Rumsfeld said this week - "...I have benefited greatly from criticism, and at no time have I suffered a lack thereof."
But I am a firm believer of VSN. Community is a word I cherish and VSN is one way to build community on SCS. I like what someone said here earlier; the mods step aside and lots of people come to participate in the direction of SCS for a couple of nights.
And, again, I think these challenges are a way for some of us to grow and develop and nurture our creative spirits...it sure is for me!
Ok...'tis late...have some uploading to do tomorrow.
I never participated in VSN until this weekend! Was it my best work - no. Did I step outside my box and learn something new - yes! My stamp room is a total disaster right now but I really had a lot of fun!

I never participate but only because they are held on weekends that I have to work 12 hr days. When I get home, I don't feel like doing anything. I don't think the work is underpar. I really think that comment wasn't warranted. Trust me, am not afraid to say you were out of line with that comment. The coordinators work very hard as do all the participants. I can also say, if I wasn't working the weekend, I would definitely be participating.
This was my first VSN. I did not particpate fully but I did try several of the challenges. It was a wonderful experience! I tried the Buckle Card and it was great! It was on my list to try but never got a round to it and VSN encouraged me to try it.
I am so glad I found SCS. It has really added to my rubber stamping experience!
I thought that the website behaved awesomely with all the activity going on!(this coming from someone who has just had MAJOR software problems at my job)
I plan on participating in the next VSN and having fun meeting the 45 minute challenge!
I like it because I sometimes do the challenge but I don't upload/submit them because I don't have that available. But it is sometimes fun to do a challenge. A lot of reasons why I join swaps, it forces me to be creative.
I do wish I could spend the day doing it though -- it is always a weekend when I have other stuff going on - so I just do it on my own time.
I love VSN!!! I haven't participated in a long while. Always ends up with something coming up the weekend it happens. But I love the challenges!!!! Love it!
I need to go comment in that clogged up gallery.

I post "great card" and "cute" all the time, but I certainly don't post it mindlessly. But this is why I have backed off in leaving many comments at all...too many people think it is not genuine. And if leaving a "thoughtful" comment means I have to type a certain number of words constructed in a way that points out all the admirable qualities in the card...well then that probably wouldn't be very representative of who I really am. My comments reflect my initial thoughts or feelings about the card.
Please please please....I can only speak for myself....but I am so THRILLED to get a comment on my card. To know that someone picked it off the page and liked it enough to comment really makes my day! I don't care if you write a 500 word composition or just put cute card, I am thankful for it. So please don't back off on leaving comments.
I have learned so much by looking through the galleries here. My cards are usually so simple and I'm trying hard to start adding embellishments and things to them to make them pop more. By having a comment posted makes me feel as if I'm starting to get the hang of it.
I don't participate but I think comments like this can really discourage someone new to stamping!!!! Less-attractive? I know you probably didn't really mean it to sound this way but I think it sounds really harsh!!! It is one night a month and it obviously promotes a fun time here on SCS. I just hope everyone posts their cards with pride--attractive is in the eye of the beholder!!!!
AMEN JACKIE G.!!! I am in total agreement with this statement!
If you don't like it, don't get on the site at the arranged time!!
