My nonstamping, weight-loss blog sort of.
I love, love, love VSN!!!! Tonight I had two friends (and fellow scs'ers) over for a mini VSN party. We've been stamping, talking, and chit chatting for the last 7 hours! I'm so glad that people organize this event. I look forward to it each and every time and always hope that I'll be able to participate.
Welcome back? Pollyanna reference? When have I ever used a Pollyanna reference? Am I to be the next one you will all dogpile on because I also am brave enough to stand up to the bullying?
For the record, I don't care for VSN, don't do it. So I don't really care that Vee doesn't either. The point is who CARES that we don't like it? Clearly, many people do.
My problem with Vee's post was that it was mean. She doesn't need to like VSN, but what was the point in the post other than to stir the s%$# pot, as my grandmother would have said. Vee does not have a gallery and yet feels the need to rip on people who are trying to improve their stamping or who are uploading pics. I uploaded a card a while ago, I was giving it away and wanted a copy of it stored. She felt like she needed to tell me what she thought was wrong with it. Not sure why as I didn't ask but she did.
You all know what they say about opinions, don't ya? Some days the PMS just gets so thick here, if your panties are in a wad, don't post.
I don't know too much about VSN. It sounds cool but do you have to buy all the supplies on that shopping list if you don't have them? You don't know what the cards are supposed to be until it starts right? I've looked at a few of the VSN cards and they were not shoddy or whatever the word was. I did upload 2 cards last night and I've gotten my customary number of comments so I don't think it hurt me any.
Anyhoo, I could not participate because it is my weekend to work. But I just have to say "great job ladies" to the people who did.
I haven't participated in them in a few months, because I've been working 12 hour shifts, had some overtime, and had a gravely ill aunt (doing fine as of now, after having a kidney removed). I just haven't had time or energy for much other than work and sleep lately. But now that my aunt is doing better, and I am off the 12 hour shifts (at least for now), I am finally getting caught up on rest and managed to stamp some stuff last week for the first time in I dunno when.
The VSN's made me try things I might never have tried, and I think all in all, they're a good experience. My only "problem" with them (for lack of a better word), is when people are encouraged to "post as many comments as you can, we're awarding prizes for whoever posts the most comments". To me, that just encourages people to mindlessly post "great card!", "cute!", or some other one or two worded comment in an effort to post as many comments as possible and win a prize, they probably don't even pay all that much attention to your entries. I would rather get one or two genuine, thoughtful comments than a million ones that people posted in a frenzy just to win a prize. In my opinion, this activity detracts from the VSN's.

Thanks for posting this...it was what I was thinking, but couldn't get it to come out quite right. ;)
Please stop posting non topic. And, to those that do post with a real thought, can we agree that if this is a community activity, do it if you wish. If not, no one cares. Really.

You don't have to buy anything. Even as one of the hostesses, with my family and responsibilities I never have time to do more than a few of the challenges either, and sometimes if I don't have the supplies called for, I don't buy them if they don't fit in the budget. Sad to say however, the longer I've been stamping, the less I find on the list that I don't have.
:rolleyes: Jump in and just try out one challenge if that's all you have time for. Its meant to stimulate those creative juices and let you have some fun!

Oh, my, Vee! I think perhaps your opinion could have been stated a bit more diplomatically. One needn't sacrifice good manners on the alter of honesty.
