Another scanner question...

When I scan lighter colored things, they really look washed out in my photo program. Is there a way to adjust how it scans color? (boy, I am really bad with electronics :? )

I can tell you how in Photoshop. If you have something different, you should be able to find a similar option.

I go into "Image", "Adjust", "Auto Levels". Be aware that whatever is lightest in the photo or scan is what will be considered "white" and everything will be adjusted to that. So if you put in a copyright statement that is on a white block, adjust the color levels before you add it, since it will always be whiter than any scan or image.

Usually I get great results with Adjust Auto Levels. But if that doesn't look good, undo it and try Adjust Contrast and see if that looks better. More than that, you'll need a book.

There *should* be.

Every scanner program is different, so you may have to play around with it. Here are a couple things to try...
* Look for something along the lines of brightness and contrast. It may be that your brightness is up too high and washing the lights out.
* Check the levels. There should be something that lets you select a white and select a black in the picture. Scan something with both black and white to make the adjustments.

If that doesn't work, click on the help button and ask it about white, white balance, lights and see if the help can come up with something.
