I have lots of them from when they were current and their for scrapbooking. The were safe to use in your scrapbook pages. I don't think they will work like staz on.
Well, the info I found said that Ancient Page pads are "waterproof and permanent on most surfaces" (emphasis mine). Something tells me plastic isn't included, though. I'd play it safe and go with the actual StazOn ink.
try it one one of your stampin up bags, or a window envelope to see if it works, I had several of them but did not like the smell so I gave them away or I would try it for you.

I don't want to try it because if I break the plastic wrap I will no longer be able to return it. I checked out their website but it is still not clear to me if it is what I thought it was.

Okay, I've been curious about this, too, so I tried my black Ancient Page on a cello bag this morning. It took quite awhile to dry, but once the ink dried, it seemed to stay on just fine, even took a baby wipe to it. I've never used StazOn, so don't know how the two compare.
How long? I decided to open one and try. I left it for about 10 minutes and then went to check ont it. I did get some ink off the top but there was a faint bottom layer that stayed on the bag. I'm going to let it sit while we go to a bbq and check it when I get home.
Just FYI...this was NOT a good idea....the drying takes entirely too long and then there is still some ink that comes off. NOT worth it. I ended up just using black staz on.
The Ancient Page is a dye ink and clearly says so on the package. Everything is emboss-ible if you can get EP on it before it dries. Afterall, you can emboss printer ink if you are quick enough.
In my experience, it is waterproof, but not really permanent. I have used it on glossy surfaces and had to wait overnight for it to dry. I have also dried it more quickly with my heat tool. It was bleeding on the vellum I was using but a blast with the heat tool took care of that.
