Hot soapy water is my favourite way to clean dye or pigment ink off the brayer. The rubber brayer may stain if you use a dark colour but it does not come off in your next project if your wash it really well in hot soapy water.
I do not think you need more then one but if you do not like the stained rubber you could get another.
I have two, one for black and one for everything else. It cleans up great. I ususally "run it out" on my mat and then run under water and that's been fine so far.
