Hello, I am just paging through the stamp sets on ebay and I have come across the NEW 2008 SaleABration sets on there for sale!! I thought these could NOT be sold especially right now. How do people get away with doing this? I am not a demo or anything, just a customer. I would not buy one of those right now as I know I will earn all of mine for free, but doesn't this hurt the other demo's out there?
This is just ONE link

I think its ridiculous how much people will pay for SU stuff on ebay. They could get these sets for free for the money they are going to spend on the sets on ebay! They need to do some research! The level three hostess set Time Well Spent is going for $50-60 on ebay!! jeesh
i believe customers of SU can do as they wish with their sets, current or retired, which includes selling them on ebay... but since true customers are probably just now getting their first chance at acquiring these sets from SU most likely many of the ones on ebay currently are being sold by demos or the demo is giving it to a customer to sell for her? my thoughts. (and you are so right, i will get my sets for free from SU and support my demo with my purchase!)
I personally think it is CRAZY to buy a set that you can get for free- especially since I know I am going to order SU stuff anyway- I will just make sure I order enough to get it! JMO.
The only sets I buy on ebay are retired ones because it DOES hurt the demos. Besides, people probably end up paying more for it there than they would if they ordered it from a demo.
Well, today is Feb 6. When I order from SU, I live on the west coast, I have my items in 3 business days even with regular shipping. So they could be a customer on the west coast.
The first link provided is for items not yet in hand....so I'm assuming this is a person who has put in a huge order and is trying to get some cash back.
Demos were able to preorder, but only one of each set, not multiples.
I don't know that much about SU but what I do know is that they have only recently gone to Britain - and I noticed on several blogs about new British SU demo's having old sets from the US and the SU catelogue isn't the same there - so I would just hazard a guess that with the dollar/pound stirling exchange rate at the moment that selling on ebay to Britain is probably highly advantageous to both parties.

I buy my stampin up stuff on ebay all the time and it is cheaper. I'd rather pay $10-$15 for the set I wanted instead of spending $50 to get one free. My feeling is that if you have to spend $50 to get a sab set, then it really isn't free. Just as an example of what I mean when I say stamps sets are cheaper on ebay: I just bought the stamp set 'Touch of Nature' for $9.99 buy it now plus $4.oo shipping- now that stamp set is $27.95 in the catalog plus tax and shipping. As long as there are stampin up stamp sets listed on ebay there will be buyers. I do support my demo, and I do purchase items from her; however I feel that getting the best price for my stamps is also important to me. We all would like to save some money when we could. Just my opinion here please don't take offense to it.
These things never stop amazing me! Seems like in a few months time, there will be a huge glut of these sets on ebay and the likes that can be had for a fraction of the price. It is like this every year. There are so many people getting extra sets. After the initial surge in prices, they seem to drop a lot. Maybe I am wrong on this but that is what it seems like to me. I am a patient person and I figure that if there is a set I really want then I will wait. If I still want it after a few months, then I will look. (None of the sets wow me at all but that may change when I see more samples)
Am I remembering this wrong or do you think this is true?

Must be one heck of a big order. They have 22 SAB sets listed!!!
Exactly!!!! I can't believe anyone would pay anywhere near some of those Buy It Now prices! They'll be $5-$7 by summer because there are so many of them around.
I'm a new Demo and my first order even at 30% OFF still earned me 2 of every set in the SAB catalog. I couldn't get out of the order system without having to throw something free in my cart (so to speak) every other minute. I submitted my order after at 4am. on February first and I live down the street from SU!....about 35 mins. It picked and shipped same day, sat in SLC over the weekend and I had it late Monday afternoon. Technically, a customer could have all those sets to put up on eBay, but calling it a "preorder"? What does that mean? If she gets the money, she will place an order that qualifies for SAB sets? I've got SAB sets and rub-ons coming out of my ears and before I became I demo, mine would prolly be up on eBay too. God Bless American capitalism!
Four of the new Sale-a-bration sets have been available in Australia for 6wks now - although here we have to order $100 worth for 1 set, so I can't imagine many people would be parting with theirs.

The costs are about double the USA prices as well (although our price does include tax where yours do not) --- and we are about 9mths behind! We see all your new stuff in July and have to wait until the next April! :(

yeah, but you have better beaches. Someone here on SCS has a blog with the most awesome photos of sand sculptures in Melbourne. I would give stamp money to have a birdseye view of that. Anyway, back to the OP. Now that I am a demo, and I see how to work it right, I would never buy SAB sets for that kind of money on eBay.....but I did pay a sick amount of money for Snow Globe and I traded it for something crazy like Fashion Firsts, I think?

You are so right. I've just placed a SU order and I was $36 short of the $100. Seemed a shame not to go the whole hog and get one of SAB sets. I certainly am not going to part with it in a hurry. $100 is $100 if you know what I mean.

I'd love a few of them but I'm in the UK and I can't get them... we are so behind!
I've ordered quite a few sets in the past from Ebay because it's only recently that Stampin Up have come to the UK... the pound to the dollar is good at the moment.
Your sets in the US are a lot cheaper for you guys than it is for us in the UK
:(
I was looking at that one the other day Wendy but it didn't excit me the way the floral ones did... funny isn't it... we always want what we can't have!!
