Default What kind of "scrapbooking" is this?

I have been scrapbooking for many years. There have been times where I put the craft on the back burner for a while but always come back to it. I just love doing it. I am a traditional paper scrapper. I have never dabbled in digital. I love the look you can accomplish with digital and I had thought about switching over a couple of times but I just love to work with all my supplies.

With that being said, I have seen "layouts" done with those 4x6 photo sleeves, where there are 6 photo sleeves to a page. In some of the sleeves there would be the actual photos and in the other sleeves would be embellishments, journaling, etc.

I think I wouldn't mind doing that kind of scrapbooking (if that's even what it's called LOL) for like a vacation where I take a TON of photos. Because I'm sure like with many of you, there are some times when you just take like a bazillion photos of one occasion. We have done 7 cruises and sometimes I just feel overwhelmed when there are so many photos to scrap to fit onto a double layout. Like say if we go to one island, I may have 30 or so photos and would like to include them all but can't fit that many onto my layout.

So I think "scrapping" them into the 4x6 photo sleeves would be a great way to include many (if not all) of our vacation photos without just throwing them into a regular photo album. If you scrap this way, do you do ALL of your layouts like this? Or will you make regular layouts and incorporate some of the photo sleeves as well?

I'd love to look online to find different ideas on using these photo sleeves as a layout base. Could you tell me what I should be looking for? Thanks so much.

I could be wrong, but those multi-picture sleeves have been around for awhile. But, they really came into vogue when Becky Higgins introduced Project Life, featuring cards and embellishments that also fit into the pockets. Now, some vendors, including CTMH are selling various sized photo sleeves that you can attach directly to your 12x12 page anywhere you want and even layer them fan style. Those come in packages and run about $4 if I recall.

Thanks! Now I feel like a complete idiot. I've heard of Project Life for quite some time now but never really looked into it. Now off to see what ideas I can find. Thanks again.

Stacy Julian I believe started the idea with her "big picture" approach to scrapbooking. she has a couple of books Big Picture and photo freedom. Very freeing. Good luck.

Thanks again. I'm definitely going to try to incorporate this type of idea into my albums. At least for my vacation ones. Those are the ones that are starting to all look the same and have a ton of photos.

Think I'm just going to start with the different photo sleeves and use my own stash of stuff for now.

Can you find the different types of photo sleeves at Michael's? Ones that have different size photo sleeves on one sheet? I have bought the ones that hold 6 of the 4x6 size but I'm also going to want to have different sizes and more than likely some vertical ones as well.

Last time I was at Michaels they had the Project Life sleeves. Not sure if all Michaels has them. You find them on Amazon too.

Michaels, and other local scrapbook stores (and online) sell various brands of multiple configurations of photo sleeve pages. We R Memory Keepers and Recollections being two I have seen for sure, besides Project Life.

I did find the Project Life at Michael's. Unfortunately, I was just browsing the day that I found it (it was before payday) So didn't have money on me to grab some of the photo sleeves. I did find a combo pack with I think 60 assorted sleeves in it that I might get for $25.

Then I checked the flyer this morning and found out that they're on sale for 40% off this week with a 15% coupon off of everything including sale items for yesterday and today. Think I just might go pick one up today.

Michelle Wooderson does a lot with Project Life, and has tons of pages on her blog. If you would like some inspiration, here is a link. She is truly talented and so productive:

yes it sounds like Project Life, they look really interesting!!! Im thinking about starting one of these as more of a journal or diary for the not so important stuff and showcasing the bigger stuff in my regular scrapbook albums.

let me know how you like it!!
