Happy Friday everyone! Today's FFP is about scrapbooking style. What would you say your scrapbooking style is?
Mine is usually pretty simple, with a few embellishments to enhance my pages. I usually have at least 2 photos on a page, and they are always the main focal point of the page. There are exceptions to this, of course, but this is my usual style.
Style? I don't need no stinkin' style. LOL I am all over the place. I hate the simplistic style (the less is more?) so anything other than that ...that is my style.
I am new to this thread. I scrapbook a lot and upload to SCS. In fact I hostess the monthly Scraplift Challenge. I like to get at least 3 to 5 photos on a 12x12 page. I have begun to use more embellishments, simply because I have lots of them that I have accumulated over the past 20 years I have been paper crafting! LOL We even have a Stash Buster Scrapbook Challenge on SCS, to challenge us to use up our stash.
I have experimented with many styles: sticker sneeze, shape frenzy, shabby chic, mixed media, 3D, etc.
I think my style is somewhat clean, simple with a bit of whimsy thrown in. I like using bright colors and mixing patterns but try to anchor the photos with the clean part. Lately, I embellish with wood veneers, washi tape, doilies, and anything I have on hand that needs to find a home like stickers (yes, I still use them). I love to find fun surprises in my stash and make them work. I've been scrapping about 16+ years so I have a lot of stash...
I don't know what my style is! When I follow a sketch, my layout comes out pretty linear and simple with just a few embellishments. When I go my own way, it comes out more random, with bits and pieces mixed and matched. The one thing that is consistent is my journaling. I love to write and it is the primary reason I scrapbook. If I have nothing to say, I don't scrapbook. Things always pop into my head, though, which I write down so I don't lose that inspiration. So, journaling is pretty dominant on my pages.
My scrapbooks have been limited to just some special occasion types, notably the installation of the president of the college where I worked at the time (I even took a CM course at my local BOCES to help me get started as I'd never scrapped before) and high school graduations (starting with my son's but then I did several for friends and neighbors).
Anyhow, I tend to cram a lot onto a page whether it's pictures or memorabilia. These specialty books tend to have lots of items included like programs, save-the-date cards, maps, college acceptance letters, clips from newspapers and so on.
I have good intentions of scrapping the life of my now one-year old grandson. I suspect that would be much different since I have only a few pieces of memorabilia like his birth and baptism announcements. It's more fun just to put his pictures all over the house.
