I'm ticked at Jon because I was going to call in sick today and he gave me the guilt trip... blah blah blah. So here I sit doing nothing and feeling bitter.

Sorry Taylor, just trying to lighten it up for you. sometimes I think one does need a sick day.
Yeah, I know... I think today is one of those days. I'm also ticked at him because he decided to drop one of his classes for the summer quarter so he's been done with school for almost a month now and he doesn't start again for another month. I told him if he was going to drop a class that he had to get a job for those two months but of course that didn't happen. I'm more bitter because he gets to do whatever he wants all day (watch TV, workout, play on the computer) while I sit at work. UGH!

That's not right! Don used to do that to me when we were first married. He never understood the need for a break. In his family they went to school even if they were sick. My MIL wanted to send my BIL to school after her broke his jaw and was supposed to stay home. Fortunately, he did stay home or he would have had a bad time.
In my home, it was okay to take a break. If I had a report done, I took the day off of school and went to the library all day to work on it. Later, when I worked in an office, every few months I'd take a day off and go do something fun. You need to relax and take a break!
Don learned that I needed this, and still do, only it's more difficult to take a "day off". But it is why he doesn't mind me going to Regionals or Convention, or doing an all day stamp thing.
And he has learned that it's okay to take a day off of work and go do something as a family.
I know some people don't agree with taking days off for a break, but I do.

Thanks for letting me vent, I will stop now.
OH NO, he DIDN'T!!!! I'd be super upset, too!! Tomorrow work "overtime" and report to MY office!!

I can just see you snapping your finger and shaking your head... LOL!
I think I may take off after lunch and not come back.
I don't think he has a problem with me taking the day off, he just has a problem with me lying and calling in "sick"... which I probably shouldn't do, but I don't want to use vacation time.

If it is for your mental health it qualifies as a sick day.

At Jack's work they don't call them sick days. They call them personal days. I like that much better. But they are days owed you aren't they?

I love all of those! Jack thinks this wall words stuff is dorky. But I think once he sees something up he will like it better. He is soooooo over possessive of the house and anything done to it. Hehehehe. I have to remind him that it is my house too. LOL

i agree with pixie that it is ok to take a break sometimes. But I do see what Jon is saying by lying you are sick....while technically you are sick...sick of work! haha. I feel guilty about calling in sick when I don't even when I am sick sometimes but not THAT sick I feel guilty. As long as you are working hard and getting your work done no one is going to question your sickness. I think you should only feel guilty if you are not working hard and are blowing off your work. kwim?

that is a good point. at my work we have vacation days, personal days and sick days. 10 vacation (well 7 for me since i started late), 3 personal and 10 (well 9 for me) sick. I just use my personal days are vacation days and sick days for sick/break days. haha.
I don't think sick days are owed to me though...maybe they are but it isn't like vacation days it is just days to be sick that are given to you.
