LSC79 - Labor Day Weekend Challenge

Welcome to the Labor Day Weekend Challenge! This fun challenge was suggested by Jami, our original LSC hostess!

We will be doing a One Sheet Wonder (OSW) using a 12x12 sheet of patterned paper. (This challenge is for designer/patterned paper. ALthough creating your own OSW with stamps is fun, that's not the purpose of this challenge.) PLEASE RAED ALL OF THE DIRECTIONS. I wouldn't want anyone to be disqualified from being a finalist for not following the guidelines.

Use 1 sheet of designer paper - you must use it all to create anywhere from 4-12 projects. At least 2 items must be non-card projects and at least 2 items must be cards (any size).

**Please read posts #102 and #115 on page 3 after reading this list of directions.**

Stamp sets - Limit 2 sets or 1 set and 1 BG + you may add a sentiment not included in your choice of sets
Designer paper - 1 sheet - use it all
CS - any
Ink - any
Embellishments - any

Important uploading directions: You must photograph the group together. These group photos will be the ones that are judged. When adding a link to this thread (optional), please link the group first. Adding links to inidividual cards and projects is an added bonus and optional. You must put LSC79 in the keyword box when uploading. Many cards gets missed by me because of missing keywords or incorrect spacing. Please be careful!

Judging:

Only one group entry per person. NO time limits! I want to see your best work!

You will have until Monday, September 4 at 3:00 PM ET to upload your entry. At around 9:00PM ET, I will post a new thread with a poll of all the finalists. You will vote on the grand prize winner! I will leave the polls open for 3 days.

Grand Prize:

1. The winner will be the next Sunday's Featured Stamper on my blog. (See my sig line.) This will include the photo of the winning entry and a link to the winner's SCS gallery!

2. You will be able to choose one pack of patterned paper from the SU! catty or mini!

I know that some people may like to donate money to increase the prize. I will NOT be able to do that due to new SCS regulations regarding prizes. I'm doing this from my own funds just because I want to have fun. I am hopeful that there will be no negativity regarding participants or judging so that we can continue to have these mini holiday weekend challenges. Thank you!

Need help linking a card? Follow these instructions!

1. Open 2 windows. One window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Got to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
Your done!

Samples will be posted in the following 2 posts.

This one sheet challenge idea came from Jami once she did a 2 sheet designer paper project for the DD gallery. Although these pictures are from using 2 sheets, it gives you an idea of the amount of creations you will make. In the next post, you will see that this can be done with just one sheet as suggested by Jami. If you are not a paying member on this site, you will not be able to view these pictures. You will be able to view the next set in post three.

Here's the set I was able to create using just one sheet of patterned paper. It took me three days of stamping. I had no idea I could make so much. I won't hesitate to use patterned paper anymore!

(I did not photograph everything individually. The accordian book wasn't finished with photos and the scrapbook pages had photos of students. Remember, individual photos are optional, but they do help get a better look at the items.)

Yea! Can't wait. Thanks, Jen!

tggrfriend 09-01-2006 03:51 AM

Does it have to be SU designer paper or can we use any others?

DawnL 09-01-2006 03:52 AM

oh wow!

Julesiana 09-01-2006 03:53 AM

WOW!
Well here it goes!! Thanks so much Jen!!

BadSherry 09-01-2006 03:53 AM

Good challenge Jen!

Toy 09-01-2006 03:53 AM

Sweeeeeeet! I've always wanted to do a OSW. I might just have to take stuff with me to PA to work on and hightail it back here early on monday!

At the very least.. I'll be stalking this challenge for sure!!

Great challenge, Jen!!

Peace!

cjf&cjfsmommy 09-01-2006 03:54 AM

I'm w/ Holly, OSW has been on the list but haven't done it yet! Sounds fun thanks Jen!!

imastampin 09-01-2006 03:55 AM

I've never really done a OSW before, so I may use some of my retired designer paper as practice. Can't ruin the new stuff! Not that I would ruin anything, but . . . ya' know! lol Let's get busy!

The designer paper does not have to be SU! Any brand is fine.

bambi64 09-01-2006 04:05 AM

Sounds like fun. Now to make the time!

genie1314 09-01-2006 04:06 AM

OOOOO..I've never done a OSW before! FUN!

QUESTION:
You can use 2 sets + a sentiment from another?

Anna741 09-01-2006 04:07 AM

Wow! What a challenge! I don't have any patterned paper, but I may have to run out to Hobby Lobby (scrapbook paper is 50% off this week) so I can play. Thanks, Jen!

Yes... I added the extra sentiment to Jami's list (Shhhh. Don't tell her.) I rarely use the sentiments in image sets. :-D

genie1314 09-01-2006 04:22 AM

great! i just bought awesome new paper last weekend!

dawnmercedes 09-01-2006 04:23 AM

now this is a great challenge...can you please add more time to my day so I can start stamping again? hehe.

lacyquilter 09-01-2006 04:36 AM

Oooo, sounds like a great challenge! I've never done a OSW before either. Of course, for me the biggest challenge will probably be coming up with something other than cards. Thanks, Jen (and Jami). Good thing you're giving us all weekend. I've got lots going on today and tomorrow.

I'm with ya on that one. I hope to squeeze this one in. Looks like fun

Jerri Kay 09-01-2006 04:48 AM

Jen, this sounds like an absolutely fantastic challenge. I'm not sure if I can participate. We are supposed to go out of town for the weekend, but it if rains, we may be able to talk my husband into staying home. If I'm here, I'm definitely playing! Thanks for such a fun challenge.

Kathyc 09-01-2006 04:53 AM

Ooooh, what fun! Gotta go to work now but I am looking forward to this challenge; I have tons of designer paper and lots of things I've purchased with the intention of stamping/decorating! Thanks Jen for the challenge and samples and to Jami for the inspiration!

rhondag 09-01-2006 04:54 AM

This is so perfect for me! I had planned something very much like this! ......Now to decide about the stamp sets and paper. I have a feeling the paper I plan to use will be over-used, but I need to do what I can make useful I guess.....oh sorry, thinking out loud! :)

Incredibly fun and exciting challenge Jen and Jami!!! Thanks!

diana11460 09-01-2006 05:22 AM

Sounds like a fun challenge, Jen! Can't wait to get started. My poor DH has to work this long weekend, so I should be able to find some time to stamp - woo hoo!! I've never done a OSW, so this will be a first - gatta love these challenges!!

kysmom 09-01-2006 05:29 AM

Oh my, this is going to be fun!!!

lisastamper 09-01-2006 05:30 AM

This one really will be a challenge for me, as we are leaving for camping in about 3 hours and returning Sunday--I guess I'll just have to spend the weekend dreaming of stamping, and will get to it when I get home. I can't wait!

rosowskimom 09-01-2006 05:35 AM

This will be fun! I hope I can get to it a nap time today. Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with as well!

raduse 09-01-2006 05:38 AM

Oh boy, and I go back to work today.:( Would love to be doing this challenge all day long. We'll see what I come up with tonight and tommorrow.

kellymartin 09-01-2006 05:46 AM

yipee...can't wait to try this. I've never done a OSW either...seems like I've got plenty of company. And, Jen, you are awesome to work on this for us! Thanks so much!

sherristampsalot 09-01-2006 05:48 AM

Fun! We have Tropical Storm/Hurricane Ernesto here so school open houses have been canceled and I'm home!! Have some invites that *have* to be done before I can do anything else, though! Even if I don't get to play I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! Happy Holiday Weekend! :)

star 09-01-2006 05:58 AM

Hmmmmmmmm...........my little guys official b-day is Sunday, but I'm already trying to figure out how to fit this in!!! This would be a good stretch for me!! But!!! If I can't squeeze it in, I'll sneak in some peeking at what you all are doing!!! (now....do I still have some 12x12 designer paper or do I need to sneak to a craft store???) THANKS JEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pinky 09-01-2006 05:59 AM

Jen, I have never done a designer sheet OSW either. This sounds like tons of fun and I am going to do this one for sure! I know what 2 projects I am going to do and then I will probably do cards w/the rest of the paper. I am limited to my designer paper, so lots will probably use the same one I am choosing, but variety is the spice of life, huh? Thanks for such a clever & thought provoking challenge...probably will take me several days to complete...thanks for extending the deadline.

Pinky

Clownmom 09-01-2006 06:01 AM

This sounds like a lot of fun. I've never done a OSW, but I have a couple of ideas already. Glad we have extra time -- won't be able to start until tomorrow! Thanks, Jen.

newstamperamy 09-01-2006 06:07 AM

This is an incredible challenge and just what I need. Thank you!

Love your blog, btw...

studbo 09-01-2006 06:46 AM

Oh wow, what a super challenge. And a challenge indeed, I've never done a OSW before so now's the time to give it a try! Thanks Jen!

I have a mountain of PP, wanna borrow some from me? ;)

tashers 09-01-2006 07:16 AM

Very cool challenge. This may seem like a silly question, but if you use double-sided paper, can you, or do you have to use both sides? I just want to be sure before starting :D

momtooandz 09-01-2006 07:25 AM

Aw, shucks! I was hoping to do this challenge after I was done packing for camp, while waiting for DH to come home. I don't think I'll squeeze this one in though! I'll enjoy seeing everything when I get back on Wednesday!

Sure! How long would the drive be from Chicago? I'll be there as soon as I can to pick some up... ;) Thank you, Lisa! :D

Somehow I've managed to avoid the addiction to patterned paper. Maybe this challenge will be the push I need.
