I usually post on Thursday nights because I leave for work so early in the morning. Since it's Thursday, it's still October 19. This date is a significant one for me. It represents the gift of life. My first son was a micro preemie and spent 15 weeks in NICU. He finally came home on Oct. 19, 1995. We celebrate every year. We are so blessed to have him in our lives. On Oct. 19, 2000, my second son, also a micro preemie, died during delivery. That magnifies the miracle my first son is. And I'm reminded every year on this date. I made my annual trip to the cemetery, today. On my way home I remembered that it was Thursday and I didn't have any idea what the challenge would be. So, I began to run through my day for anything that might spark an idea. And this is what I came up with. I hope you like it.
Life is a Gift: Make a card using one or more presents on your card. It may be in the form of a stamped image, die cuts, or stickers. Don't have any presents? See sample #2! There are no additional restrictions for this challenge. Please put LSC86 in the keyword box when uploading. I have been missing some cards lately because incorrect keywords.
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us stamping!

Virtual hugs being sent your way Jen! What a wonderful challenge! We all need to slow down and remember what and who is important in our life. Thanks for the reminder.
What a special challenge. My first 2 babies died, and then my next 2 babies were total miracles (one adopted, and one "natural" only 10 months apart) so this will be a special challenge as we remember that The Lord Gives and The Lord Takes Away...Blessed Be the Name of the Lord. Everything we have is a gift from him. I NEVER use that present stamp in the old old set, Perfect Party, so this is the perfect reason! Thanks for the challenge and for sharing your story with us.

Hugs Jen!! My one and only was a premie as well, (not as early as yours) - he spent 6 weeks in NICU. I am thankful to have my special little guy every day, he truely is a gift and hope I have a chance to do this challenge in my otherwise crazy day (it's Friday here already and my plate is full)!
Jen, your gift of life truly is a miracle. I, too, lost a child before I could hold him and I know that there will always be a special place in your heart for your deceased son. Enjoy the miracle of your oldest son!!! Big hugs to you during what still is a difficult time for you and your hubby! On to the "Gift of Life." Thanks for always taking time out of your busy life to spur us on with the challenges!

Thank you Jen for sharing with us this story! I too have 2 miracles in my children. I was on complete bed rest with both and spent a lot of time in the hospital trying to carry them as long as possible! My DS and I almost didn't make it. But God is good! I can't thank him enough for seeing us through! God bless you and your family!!!!
Thanks for this special challenge! I appreciate the time and effort you put into these challenges each week!

Well, Jen, I have to thank you for give me some food for thought and posting last night so I could reflect on your story in the stillness of the morning. Although I used the Mother and Child for the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, I felt it was fitting here too. Have a blessed day, Jen - you and your family deserve it! God bless all of you.
What a touching and beautiful story, Jen. Thanks so much for sharing -- every once in a while we all need a little nudge from someone to make us remember and appreciate all we have to be thankful for -- thanks for sharing.
I have one gift stamp, so I'm set. But probably can't play this for a few days, but I will!!!
Jen, thanks for sharing your heartfelt story! It really make you appreciate what you have & realize that life really is a gift that should not be taken for granted! ((((((Hugs))))))) to you & your family!
Great idea for a challenge! Gives me a reason to pull out my loney Polka Dot Party set.
Thanks, Jen, for the reminder of the precious gifts we receive. The four packages on my card represent my dearest gifts of son, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters.
Thanks, Jen, for sharing your heart touching story. I made my card with three gifts in recognition of my three daughters who brighten my life every day.
OK, I had this great idea - which when put to paper doesn't match up with the idea. I think the third panel needs some wallpaper and am going to try that - any suggestions? By the way, all three panels are the right sizes - I just copied it and placed them side by side to get in one photo.
Jen I will definitely do the challenge today. All of my children are a gift. I have had 2 m/c in between my children. I cannot even imagine how tough it had to have been to lose a child. My heart goes out to you. I'm going to hug all my children today and have them also make a card for your challenge.
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story with us and thanks for all you do for your SCS family!! Can't wait to get started on this inspiring challange!!
