Splitcoaststampers.com - the world's #1 papercrafting community
You're currently viewing Splitcoaststampers as a GUEST. We pride ourselves on being great hosts, but guests have limited access to some of our incredible artwork, our lively forums and other super cool features of the site! You can join our incredible papercrafting community at NO COST. So what are you waiting for?
I get free printed papers, color ideas, and card layouts in my mailbox almost every day. No, I don't subscribe to a hundred paper crafting magazines, I've learned to scope out my junk mail.
This is a challenge to use junk mail on your card. The main image should come from junk mail--could also use colored/printed/textured paper, mount with corners from envelopes or even the words or free stickers from address labels. You could take a sketch from an advertising layout or get color inspiration.
Keyword: LSC59B
Limit: Junk Mail has to be used on your card
Stamps: At least one stamp must be used
Cardstock: Any
Ink: Any
Embellishments: Any
Remember this is Virtual Stamping Holiday 2 and there will be no prizes or honorable mentions. We're just in it for the fun of it. There are no time limits either, so take as long as you like. You may have to wait for the mail on this one if you are a neatnik and have thrown away ALL of your junk mail--today isn't a mail holiday is it?
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us stamping!
If you need help with uploading your card to the gallery or posting a link, click here! Forums at Splitcoaststampers
Please put LSC59A in the keyword box when uploading!
Here are some samples I made: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
One in this photo actually uses a piece of the junk mail, another was inspired by the circles and the colors, the third was a spin-off of the circles, and I included a piece of the postcard that started it all in the scan.
For more cards, check out my gallery, I uploaded a bunch of them last night. Also do a gallery search for "junk mail" to find a few more--a few people admitted that they used it. You can also try a scavenger hunt in the Inspiration Challenge. Many of the inspiration pieces Karen (kthaman) uses are from advertisements.
Think of this as a junk mail scavenger hunt. On your mark, get set, GO!
Good grief! My dh throws out all junk mail the minute he comes in with the mail...I'm gonna have to go raid the garbage bag and try to find something I can use....oh, I hope I haven't thrown messy stuff on top of it all. Ok, thanks for this very interesting challenge!

Maybe main image is a little too strong a word. Maybe I should have said there should be junk mail in evidence on your card, because I also said you could use it to inspire your own creation.
Man... this challenge makes me wish I had some junk mail laying around!! I usually trash it before I even open it!! Hmm.... for once, I'm hoping for some JUNK mail today!! ;)
This is an awesome challenge! I may have to dig in the waste basket, though! And I need to get some breakfast & coffee in me so I can think. I was up till 2:15 (CT).

My DD is a junior too. I'm glad she doesn't want to save all of hers. There is a TON of it!!
She got something from the National Guard yesterday that had a wonderful blue fabric looking envelope. I was going to make something with it last night, but ran out of time.
Location: Living in Kansas, but my heart is at OSU with my DS!

I've used the stickers you get when you buy a sheet of stamps before. They are really pretty. I've just never uploaded them b/c I never thought anyone would be interested.
Throw my junk mail out the minute I get it, unless it's for like coupons, golf, or something I might find useful. Went through my basket, found one I think will work. Going to clean kitchen and then start!

I have one of those sheets right here on my desk, but they are fall leaves. I plan on using them in a few months
