Michelle - I think pizza is a fab idea My two had their shots yesterday...I think DD#1 cleared the waiting room

I made lasagne Sunday, and a whole chicken in the CP yesterday we had rice-a roni and corn with it. Tonight? Not so sure...I forgot to take something out of the freezer, so I'll have to figure something out....

I'm here to beg recipes once again....

Do any of you have a tried and true recipe for a really good Banana Bread? I've been so hungry for it, and would love to make some after I go to the store tomorrow....I also figured I can make some extra loaves and freeze it. It might be a tasty treat in the upcoming weeks...

Oooh....maybe a good zucchini bread too? Did I even get close on the spelling? lol. Sorry, it's been a long morning...

Also if you have any Nana's Apple Cake mix from Tastefully Simple you can make that into Banana Bread as well.

2 eggs
1/2 - 1 cup pecans or walnuts

I SWEAR by this Banana Bread Recipe from my mom:

Banana Bread

2 1/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3 old bananas
2 1/2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla or almond extract
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
2 sticks (1 cup) melted butter
1 cup nuts (any kind) (Optional)
Optional: chocolate chips, dried fruit or both

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a bundt pan.
In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. In a second bowl, mash the bananas and stir well when adding sugar, vanilla and eggs. Stir in buttermilk and butter, then dry ingredients. Add nuts and chocolate chips or dried fruit, if using. Pour mixture into bundt pan and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

I don't DO nuts in anything so I have never had it with nuts. Everyone I have ever made this for LOVES it. It freezes well too.

This is what I am making tonight. I've already tasted it and it is DELISH!!! I do not have the All Clad Cooker (but I am going to get it because I keep hearing rave reviews from my friends that do have it). I just cooked all the stuff on the stove and put it in my crockpot.

This pasta sauce could not be simpler to prepare. After you combine the ingredients in a slow cooker, the sauce simmers to savory perfection, ready to be tossed with cooked spaghetti.

Ingredients:
6 oz. bacon slices, cut into 1/2-inch pieces

1 yellow onion, diced

1 1/2 tsp. kosher salt, plus more, to taste

3 garlic cloves, minced

2 lb. ground beef

6 oz. tomato paste

1 cup milk

1/3 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese,
plus more for serving

Freshly ground pepper, to taste

1 lb. spaghetti, cooked, water reserved

Directions:
In the stovetop-safe insert of a slow cooker over medium-high heat, cook the bacon until crisp, 7 to 10 minutes. Spoon off all but 1 Tbs. of the fat. Add the onion and 1/2 tsp. of the salt and cook until tender, 5 to 7 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the ground beef and the remaining 1 tsp. salt and cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste, milk and the 1/3 cup cheese.

Place the insert on the slow-cooker base. Cover and cook on low according to the manufacturers instructions until the sauce thickens, about 4 hours. Skim the fat off the sauce. Adjust the seasonings with salt and pepper.

Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce along with enough pasta-cooking water to loosen the sauce and toss to combine. Transfer to individual bowls and sprinkle with cheese. Serve immediately. Serves 6 to 8.

Tonight was a "throwwhateveryouhaveinthefridgetogether" type of meal.

Cooked up some diced chicken breast in EVOO with some garlic italian seasoning. Added a couple of diced roma tomatoes to that. Cooked some bacon, tossed that in there, mixed it all together with some pasta and homemade alfredo sauce and served it with garlic bread. Wasn't half bad.

Tonight we had tacos; easy peasy lemon squeezie!

For lunch I heated up one of the chicken breasts from the chicken with linguine; I sliced it up and reheated the spanish rice-a-roni from yesterday, then I mixed to them together with some sour cream and salsa...that was pretty good!

Tomorrow I will probably make the reubens for me and DH and figure out something else for the kids.

my chicken teriaki was very good and I am definately adding it to my permanent recipe file.

I browned the chicken breasts lightly, then poured int he soy sauce and the orange soda and simmered it until the chicken was completely cooked. I thought the sauce would reduce down a bit, but it never did, so I added some cornstarch to thicken it up some.

it was very yummy but a bit too salty (and I used the reduced sodium soy sauce) so next time I make it I will probably tweak the ratio of soy sauce to orange soda.

but it was still very very delicious.

We had leftovers and pancakes for dinner last night. Was supposed to go grocery shopping, but the truck broke down AGAIN *sigh* and Ryan wasn't able to get it fixed.

Tonight will probably be beef, I think. However that is subject to change since I'm still feeling sick and I spoke to my cousin last night who had this same thing and she told me that hers lasted over 5 weeks. It'll only be 3 for me on Saturday.

Oh Jaclyn - Blech on the sickies!!

I haven't made anything interesting lately. I think we are having tacos or taco salad tonight. I thawed some ground beef and I know we have tortillas but not sure on the taco shells. I'll probably buy a small bag of Doritos from the store in my building since we like them crushed in taco salad and I won't have a big huge bag to eat in my pantry.

I ended up getting Little Caesars for the kids and me and making DH a reuben. So today for lunch I will get my reuben...but DH stayed home sick, so he will get another one.

Tonight is goulash with corn muffins. Or I could make chili instead....I'll ask DH which he'd rather have. Or I could just pair the two and make chili-mac, LOL!

Atleast you will be able to fix yours it sounds like...

Ours could run in the cost of $3000 to $7000 to fix for a truck that's only worth $5000!

How dumb is that?!?!?

Bummer on the broken vehicles, girls. How frustrating.

Last night I made the Williams Sonoma pasta dish that was listed...yesterday I think, by Hoth2os. It was pretty good! DH and I agreed it was worth making again. I also like the fact that it's fairly basic, so you could potentially jazz it up or down any way you like (italian sausage instead of ground beef or add some fresh veggies, etc).

Tuesday night I made Jan's Porcupine Meatballs. DH called on his way home to ask what we were having and I told him "porcupines". Wish I could have seen his face because the pause on the phone was priceless. I had to do a little creative thinking with the recipe, though. After I had the meatballs already made and in the pan, I realized the can i THOUGHT was tomatoes was actually chicken-noodle-soup. Oops. So, I combined the can of tomato soup with a cup of beef broth (because I wanted to make sure the rice had enough liquid to absorb) and it turned out GREAT! Thanks again for that recipe, Jan. It's always appreciated around here.

Glad you liked it Steph. I agree on adding to it. I think it needs a little more flavor. But, I like spicy so Italian Sausage would probably be better at our house.

Tonight I am making wonton noodle soup. Well, putting it together. I'm sick (called in sick today for the first time in six years), so he gave me some chicken stock some of his homemade frozen wontons, and I will add some green onion and shrimp noodles. Ahh...Chinese comfort food He's such a sweetie. He would be here making it but he's working. Last night I was even too sick to make it and went to bed almost as soon as I got home!

Bummer on the vehicles, nothing is worse than that in my opinion.

I don't know what we are having tonight, maybe In-N-Out, yummy!

Ours is fixed, for now. And it would have been the night it broke down if Ryan would have listened to me .

Yesterday, Logan (my 8yr old) had an eye doctors appt and he's got to get glasses. Then we ran to Wal Mart and ended up being in there for nearly 2 hrs UGH, kids weren't cooperating, ran into a few people we haven't seen in awhile, so was nearly 7pm when we left there. Then we ran to Shopko so that I could get a 'Baby's 1st Christmas' ornament for Emberlyn and the one I wanted they only had a display, talk about a nightmare to get it. The first girl had NO clue what to do, so we had to go up to the courtesy desk, where they tried to get ahold of seasonal, where after 20 minutes someone FINALLY called back. They shipped me back to seasonal (this is all for an ornament that was just over $4) where the girl scanned it and said they had 8 on hand, went to look for them and didn't find them. So I asked to buy the display and was told I couldn't because they won't sell them unless they are clearanced, what?!?! She went to double check and a guy told me the same thing. But after pleading and my friend (who also works there) telling the guy "Just give it to her" I was able to buy the display because they had the box in the back. That whole ordeal took 45 minutes. But I got her the ornament!!

Then we ran to Econo to pick up a few things they had on sale and formula. And because they NEVER have enough lanes open, that took another 1/2 hr, so I gave in and bought the kids mini subs from there for dinner. Ryan cooked up a steak for us later on.

UGH.

Tonight we're having enchiladas and sour cream enchiladas, per the request of the kids.

Tomorrow um.... I think will be homemade pizza with the kids. We're planning on starting to decorate tomorrow while Ryan is out hunting, I pray he gets his buck TOMORROW so our Sunday is free.

Tonight, I'm going to make something that I haven't made in awhile. Stuffed Pepper Soup! We love it, especially when it's cold out like right now. I usually serve it with garlic bread.

Last night we had pork chops and Stove Top stuffing with some sauteed onions and mushrooms.

Tonight we're having BBQ'ed Lil Smokies and pasta with homemade alfredo and broccoli.

Not sure about tomorrow, but Tuesday I'm going to do up some chicken and cheesy taters for the kids. Hopefully we'll have left overs for Wednesday and then it's TURKEY DAY!!!

My menu for Thanksgiving:

Ham
Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Gravy
Sweet Potatoes
Coleslaw
Corn
Green bean casserole
Stuffing
Dill Pickles
Cranberry sauce
And for dessert, pumpkin pudding.

I feel like I have a whole new kitchen! If you want to see it, you can look on my blog:

http://stampspaperscissors.typepad.c...ht-the-fl.html

Last night we did popcorn, though I fried up some of the leftover goulash for my husband before he went to play a gig.

Tonight I really don't know what to make. We had a potluck at church and I made hash brown casserole...the one that's like a heart attack on a plate with the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, cheese and butter. None left! All got gobbled up! There was also potato salad, kielbasa and kraut, sliced ham, bread, salad, corn pudding, some sort of meat loaf that was either veal or pork or both...it was really good!, and desserts too. So I'm not feeling that hungry to be honest.

Yesterday, I went shopping for turkey day. Our local market had a "buy $100 get a free turkey" special. I had $101.80 when I got to the register, so I got my 15 3/4 lb. bird absolutely free!

We are having:

Turkey
Stuffing
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Candied sweet potatoes
Green bean casserole
Harvard beets
Corn
Rolls
Pumpkin pie

It's a kind of combo of my mom's thanksgiving day feast and my MIL's. My family never ate Harvard beets or green bean casserole, so that's really DH's family. His family didn't do stuffing or sweet potatoes, so that's from us.

Jan I couldn't find the picture of your kitchen, but maybe I'm too early and you haven't loaded it yet...

Last night was Little Sleazer's since we didn't get home from car shopping until after 6 and still unsuccessful. We need the dealer to come down $1000 what do you think our chances will be?

Today I put 2 whole fryer chickens in the CP's. One is flavored with Lemon Pepper and the other plain. I cut up 10 lbs of carrots (some for soup and some for a veggie tray for Thursday) 3 stalks of Celery (again soup and tray) I actually have a blister on my finger.

Anywho back to the chickens- we will eat the Lemon Pepper one tonight for dinner and then what is left I will take off the bone and use for one round of Chicken noodle soup and the other will go straight to use for soup and then into the freezer minus the noodles so we have some stock of food in there for when the little one makes his apperance.

Not sure what's on the menu for Turkey day this year. I gave the job to my MIL. Turkey for sure since I picked that up it's now defrosting in my fridge. I will be making a veggie tray and bringing crackers and spreadable cheese for snacks, but the rest is up to her. I love be pregnant- I don't have to do anything.

Sounds to me like you're doing plenty!

The pictures of the kitchen are down further in the post...you have to go by two cards first, LOL!

Tonight I ended up making grilled cheese for DH and the girls...he had another gig to play tonight.

It's a short week this week...DH and the two youngest have Wednesday off as well as the usual Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving. The oldest has a half day on Wednesday. I bought some ham steaks to make tomorrow and some hamburger I need to divide up and freeze tonight for future meals.

Hello!

Jan - Congrats on the floors. I follow your blog and love your cards.

Good luck to those cooking Thanksgiving and Congrats to those that passed it on to someone else.

We are having cornish game hens tonight with mashed potatoes. Not sure what tomorrow will be, hmm? Guess I should figure that out since I'm going to the store tonight.

We're having leftovers tonight for dinner. I've started on my Christmas cards and have a good chunk of the gifts completed as well. I'm hoping to MAYBE wrap some of them tonight!

Woohoo! I just wrapped my Giving Tree gifts as I have to turn them in tomorrow. I have a few family gifts I'm thinking of wrapping tonight as well.

We had game hens tonight. Not sure what we are having tomorrow yet. Maybe Salisbury Steak.

Last night was the pot roast with the jar of pepperchinis and Italian dressing mix. Family loved it! I was surprised that they liked it and very happy.

Tonight is jambalaya.
