Last night I made 2 batches of Friendship Bread, one Pistachio flavored and one French Vanilla with Girardelli (spelling?) Chocolate Chips. Oh.My.Goodness. I can't even pick a favorite!

I made a new soup today that was recommended by someone I know. She makes it all the time and gets rave reviews. It was easy to make and sounds like it will be good!

Creamy Cheesy Veggie Soup

1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1 can cream of chicken soup (I used cream of broccoli)
1 can Rotel tomatoes with green chilies, drained
1 can mixed veggies (I don't like most canned veggies, but I'll try it)
1 lb Velveeta cheese, cubed
2 cups cubed chicken, cooked (I did not add this)
*I also added one can of navy beans, rinsed and drained*

Mix everything in a crock pot and cook until hot.

Since it feels like a bazillion degrees here today we're having cold cereal for dinner.

mmmmm..... I'd probably have to pass on that...I can't get past the description...

Tuscan Chicken Salad Melts.... YUM

cube or chop white meat (boiled or if you have left overs)
dice some roasted red peppers, red onion, and celery -- add some fresh chopped basil and mayo, maybe a little parmesan...toss. grill some rye bread, melting some provolone cheese on it...make your sandwich...mmmmmmmm. Be warned - it's rich - it's filling -- it's OH so yummy

dinner tonight -- not sure yet DD#1 was supposed to get home late from a camp field trop, but they've postponed due to the weather...maybe I'll make some raviolis tonight. We have a parade tomorrow -- it will probably be pizza for dinner.

the thought of the friendship bread is making me hunnnnngry...off to drink more water...

I like that plan. It is nice and hot in the Bay Area too. Never a good sign when your AC is runnin at 10:25 am!

I think we are having kabobs. I took some top sirloin out of the freezer and will marinate it in something. I need some mushrooms though but my calendar just got filled with conf calls and I'm getting my windshield replaced this afternoon. Oh fun!

How are all the babies doing? Crazy how big all these little boys are getting.

It is still hot here so DH wants KFC. Not exactly health food, but I watched my calories all day so I can have some. Yummy!

Oh yum! What flavor pudding did you use in the Mounds one? Chocolate? I'd love to hear any of your other flavor combos.

my favorite cereal is Cinnamon toast crunch--- but I have to eat it quick, I don't do soggy cereal...blech.

We had the raviolis last night -- worked out well. Tonight will be pizza, and tomorrow we're going to a dinner party at a friend's house. I'm making the Barefoot Contessa's shortbread thumbprint cookies...my boss made these the other day, and they are FABULOUS. I'm not a huge coconut fan, but I really liked these.

Vanilla, but used coconut flavor instead of vanilla. And ginger I think.

Adding canned poppyseed filling you can swing that different ways- lemon, almond, etc.

It's fun to play, just figure on a cup of something (fruit, etc.) an extract or flavoring (maple, butter/nut, even chocolate) and a spice (allspice works nicely in several combos) You can figure out all kinds of flavors. I got SO bored with the original recipe!!!

Great ideas! Hmmm....I wonder if I could figure out how to make a pumpkin flavor. I'm so ready for fall.

Try a cup of pumpkin, use pumpkin pie spice (and probably put more of that in than you'd think). And keep an eye out for pumpkin pie pudding- they had it out last year!

Lol. I wasn't sure. I read something about the "boys getting big" so I thought you meant someone else!

I can't speak for the other mommies, but Avery is growing like a weed. She's already 8 months old, which I find hard to believe. She's a great, happy, baby though, so I have no complaints.

Yup - well I have a baby girl too Sam, although she's turning 20 months old this month.

Tiergan is almost 4 weeks old (will be on Monday), it makes me sad how quickly the time flies.

So the manicotti was meh. NOT what I wanted, then again, it never really is.

Tomorrow night we're supposed to have stromboli, we'll see how that flies with me (I'm guessing blah too).

I made fish tacos last night - I'm not a huge fan of fish, but these were really good and easy!

Fish Tacos

Frozen beer battered fish fillets
Coleslaw mix
Ranch dressing
Capers
Black pepper
Flour tortillas (I used the small carb balance ones)

I baked the fish in the oven until it was nice and crispy. I mixed the ranch dressing, lots of black pepper and the coleslaw mix until it was pretty juicy - then added capers for tang. Put it all together in a tortilla and had farmers market cucumbers on the side. YUMMM!!!!!!

(Oh, and I had a Bacardi Mojito too! It went well together!)

We didn't end up having stromboli because it was WAY TOO hot to turn the oven on so Ryan grilled steak instead.

It is really hot here in the Bay Area, so the grill wins. Last night turned into fend for yourself as DH ate late and I bought tamales for lunch, which he didn't eat, so he had them for dinner.

Tonight we are having corn on the cob, I'll have salmon and he will have swordfish. I need to figure out what to do with swordfish as I haven't got a clue!

What did you wind up doing with the Swordfish???

I usually just put some TS Seasoned salt on it, and grill or broil it -- top it with little fresh salsa...mmmmmm....SO good.

Nick made a FABULOUS stuffed swordfish a few times -- I'll see if I can dig out the recipe...I think the stuffing was diced fresh tomatoes, garlic, parsley, and mozzarella cheese....mmmmm...it was outstanding.

we made sausage and peppers on the grill latst night -- too hot, didn't want to turn on the oven. Came out great, even though the kids didn't want to eat it -

Tonight we are having ham steak with baked potatoes (all done on the grill) and a tossed salad. Quick and easy. Tomorrow -- I think chicken (boneless skinless thighs) -- I got some TS smoky bacon grill sauce -- I think we'll give it a try.

Thanks for the ideas.

I ended up putting it in a foil packet with lime juice, salt and pepper. Then I made a butter compound with cilantro, lime juice, zest, and ginger to top it when finished. Chris was a little scared about putting it straight on the grill, he is working on his grilling skills.

Tonight I think kabobs as I totally forgot about some top sirloin I put in the fridge to thaw on Thursday. It seemed OK last night and it hasn't left the fridge, so hopefully it is fine. I need to stop at the store for mushrooms though. Not sure what else I'll put on the kabob.

Well since it's been SO hot the menu has gotten totally messed up.

We were supposed to have pigs in a blanket tonight, but... it's supposed to be another hot one and we still have steak in the fridge that needs to be eaten.

That sounds delish...the grill packet is a great idea. I usually rub some olive oil or (carefully) put some cooking spray on the grill- because the fish will stick...that's messy.

mmmm....now I want swordfish. I'll have to call the fish market and check their hours...

This is what we're having too! I picked up some beef yesterday at the store from the bargain bin that looked pretty good. I think we'll do red onion, meat, mushrooms and orange bell peppers. Mmm! On the side I'm going to have either couscous or rice (with frozen peas and fresh parsley added).

I'm off to cube up the meat and veggies so when it gets closer to dinner time all I have to do is "build" it. I'm hungry already!
