Christmas Eve my family was here...

I made a ham, my sister brought the cheesy potatoes with ham in them, my mom brought taco salad and warm and serve rolls (which are great with gravy)

Christmas was at my MIL- she made turkey (kind of dry) mashed potatoes, squash, gravy, homemade rolls, stuffing.

Nothing too spectacular just blah...

Although I did eat LOTS of FUDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's been keeping Alex up. Darn BF milk.

We're having leftovers tonight. Although I'm ticked at Ryan right now. He'd picked up a frozen Mexican pizza and saved me ONE flippin piece and it really tastes good, but the kids ate the rest . All day nausea is for the birds and it's just progressively getting worse. Oh well, all for a good cause!

1 thinly sliced item
2-3 cloves of minced garlic
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
1 can tomato sauce
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 green pepper seeded and thinly sliced
*optional* 1 red pepper seeded and thinly sliced
1 can sliced mushrooms

Put everything but the peppers and mushrooms in to the crock pot. Cook on high for one hour and then low for another 3-4 hours. The last hour add the peppers and mushrooms.
*if you want a thicker consistency for the "sauce" you can toss the round steak in flour before you put it in the crock pot*
Serve over rice.

So, there ya go!
For Christmas eve we had homemade lasagna and garlic bread
for Christmas we had ham, funeral potatoes, asparagus casserole, pretzel jello, spinach salad, and rolls. It was so yummy! So-tonight we'll have the leftovers...which is good by me!

DH went to a wedding reception for one of the guys that he plays softball with and that means Joey and I are on our own.

I am tired of ham so we are having Blue Box Mac and Cheese, pineapple and ice cream.

Great meal, huh?!

"Morning sickness" is a joke, isn't it? Mine had nothing to do with mornings. While nothing made a huge difference, I found that peppermint did make me feel a little better. I drank gallons of peppermint tea and ate tons of peppermint candies (made with real peppermint oil). Good luck!

Back to the point of this thread. Sorry for the baby-chatter, ladies!

I haven't actually cooked anything in....a week or so. It's been very nice, but I'm starting to get hungry for "my" way of making things, make sense?

Christmas Eve, we stayed home and finished off some leftovers and just hung out. Christmas Day we went to my in-laws and ate turkey and all the fixings. It was nice to let someone else deal with the cooking, but the entire holiday was a bit of a drag this year. The day after Avery was born, my mother....went a little nuts, I guess you could say. So, instead of being surrounded by my family, which I've been looking forward to for MONTHS, we ended up spending most of it by ourselves. My family decided to stay home and we only spent about an hour with the in-laws. Hopefully next year will be better.

Tonight I think I'll make a meatloaf. DH has been asking me to make one, but every night I think I'll have time and the hours just fly. Oh well. Tonight may be the night. I'll probably serve mashed potatoes and either green beans or a big salad with it. I'm in the mood for some comfort food.

LOL funeral potatoes are cheesy potatoes that are SOOO good.
My mom got the recipe from a local radio announcer (Spike O'Dell)and he calls them funeral potatoes because his father was a pastor and would serve the potatoes at all the funeral luncheons (and they are something I guess mormons bring to funeral luncheons too). Here's the recipe my mom follows

The O'Dells' Funeral Potatoes

4 ounces margarine, softened
1 can cream of chicken soup
8 ounces sour cream
8 ounces grated cheddar cheese
1 (24-ounce) package frozen
hash brown potatoes
(Ore-Ida O'Brien)
1 cup cracker crumbs

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together margarine, soup and sour cream. Add potatoes and cheese. Pour into greased 8 by 11 inch casserole dish. Sprinkle with cracker crumbs. Bake for one hour and 15 minutes, uncovered. Freezes well

No it's not . When I was pregnant with Emberlyn I had to be put on Zofran because my 'morning sickness' was so bad. So I'm hoping that this time it'll just be the nausea and that's it.

I'll look for peppermint tea when I get into town next. So far, Cherry Coke seems to settle my stomach a bit, not the greatest thing in the world, but beggars can't be choosers.

Last night we (Ryan and I) had turkey, bacon club sandwiches. Ryan ran into town to grab some turkey for us because that's what I was craving. The kids happily gobbled up spaghetti o's and fresh cut veggies.

Tonight I think Ryan is making beef stroganoff, not exactly floating my boat, but that could change by tonight.

Coke does wonders for upset stomachs. I forget what ingredient does it, but it is the perfect for hangovers! Not that you will have those for awhile.

haha! Nope, not for awhile. So the bottles of wine look really pretty sitting on my cupboard .

I know when we were little you used to be able to get OTC "Coke syrup" and we'd get that when we had the flu. It was essentially just the syrup before they added the carbonation to it, but it did work!

Logan hopes your right! After having 3 sisters he's ready for a brother! Although Ashlynn and Brooklyn have been asking for a baby brother as well. And we haven't even told the kids yet. But about a week before we found out, they started their "baby whispering" talking about me having a baby soon.... Logan did that same thing right before I got pregnant with Ashlynn and Brooklyn and then Brooklyn did that before I got pregnant with Emberlyn.

Logan said he wants to name the baby WHEN we have another one, something that starts with the letter L so that all their first initials will spell LABEL. Dork.

I decided (with Ryan's help) that we'll have Aunt Marian's casserole for dinner tonight instead of the stroganoff YAY! And I'm making my Aunt Evy's "banana cake" (it's not banana flavored, it just has bananas between the layers) for dessert for Emberlyn's birthday, late yes, but I really didn't feel up to making a cake this past weekend.

Go Jaclyn! Funny about your hubby wanting to name the baby with an L. Typical man!

Wine - Needs to be on its side so the cork doesn't dry out and ruin the bottles. The best place is a dark closet, reds especially don't like temperature flux.

My Aunt Marian used to be the sub cook when I was in elementary school. She'd make this casserole. I have no idea if she came up with the recipe or she got it from somewhere else.

Aunt Marian's Casserole

1 lb. ground beef, browned with onion, salt and pepper
4-6 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced thinly
1 14-16oz can vegetable beef soup

Place browned ground beef in bottom of casserole dish. Top with sliced potatoes. Pour can of soup onto potatoes and add a bit of water from the can (1/4-1/2 way).
Bake covered at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender.

It's good served with biscuits and topped with a little ketchup. This recipe makes enough for about 4 people or so. I double it when I make it for 6, then we generally have a bit of leftovers for the next day.

Tonight we had chicken baked with butter & seasoned salt, with blue box mac & cheese and mixed vegetables.

I went to the meat market and the store today, so I have stuff to make spaghetti, hamburgers, onion soup and anything else I can come up with. New Years Eve we'll be doing appetizer dinner, so I'm going to go out and buy some chicken wings and make a couple of different kinds, hopefully get a summer sausage from the Schwan's man, get some cheese and crackers, olives, etc. Then I also need some fizzy lemonade that you can buy at Target to crack open at midnight!

New Year's Day we are going to go to Kalamazoo.

I made chicken with cheese tortelinni (sp?) and some alfredo sauce. The boys gobbled it up.

Not sure what I will make tomorrow. New Years eve might be a ham with some red pototes and I have no idea what else. Oh, I know what else... my Dh wants some spinich dip, but I still need a good veggie!

mmmm...we are so sick of ham....because I made 6 of them the week before Christmas for church and there was so much leftover and then my sons wanted ham for Christmas! SO, here's what I did...took it all of the bone and ground it up in my food processor, put it in freezer bags and froze it! I'll use it later for ham salad and HAM LOAF so it will get mixed with Ground Pork etc for ham loaf....

I had tilapia...take a few frozen filets out and defrost in the microwave and then pan saute....yum, it was good!

HOW LONG UNTIL THE KIDS ARE BACK IN SCHOOL?!?!?!? ARGHHHHH!!

*sigh* They are driving me BONKERS. It's been too dang cold to send them out too.

Ryan screwed up the casserole last night. WAY too much burger, not enough anything else. It was OK, but eh.

Tonight I'm making my chicken hashbrown casserole for dinner. At least he cut and cooked the chicken for me so I don't have to touch that. Blech.

I've got it narrowed down to either carbonara or ribeyes, but considering the grill is out of propane, carbonara is more likely going to happen. with tiramisu for dessert. I may try the PW tiramisu recipe.

My friends are telling me I should do prime rib, but I think I will attempt that another time.

Blech.
Eww I hate touching raw chicken..It's the number 1 thing I cannot deal with in the kitchen. I'd rather have my hands covered in ground beef!

BTW-Jaclyn-CONGRATULATIONS! I hope it's a boy so your son can pick out an L name-that LABEL is too funny! You could make that into a license plate!

Another EWW, we had hamburger helper today for dinner-today was a big junk food day *cramming before new year's resolutions?!* I had little caesars pizza at work today...which I haven't had since I was about 7 years old..haha flashback!

Heheh, thank you, Katy!

So the kids decided on what they are having for dinner tonight. For the wee urchins it'll be lil smokies in BBQ sauce with pasta and alfredo sauce. Ryan is having a hot roast beef sandwich with a knock off of Arby sauce. I will have a turkey club sandwich. And for dessert - brownie banana splits.
