Yeah for wine! I hope it was worth the wait. I can't decide if I want to drink the Zin on my counter or make hot buttered rum.

That is a deal for pizza. We ended up going to the expensive place and got it already cooked. We had to drop off the funeral flowers to Gma, so we got her a pizza too. It is quite the treat since she usually only gets Papa Murphy take-n-bake.

Tonight Ryan made buffalo chicken pizza YUM!, but boy was it spicy! The kids had pasta and beef. Logan is the only one that would even attempt to eat the spicy food.

Tomorrow night I think we're finally going to have the hawaiian chicken, we didn't have it the night I thought we were. I plan to do baking tomorrow and Ryan is going to make buckeyes and oreo truffles.

On Sunday we're supposed to have company so we'll have spaghetti, garlic bread and maybe a salad.

Hope y'all have a great weekend and Michelle if you pop in ~ I'm thinking of you!

Jaclyn - I have to make Buckeyes this weekend too. I made Oreo Truffles last year.

We just had cheese fondue and we were going to have steak, but we are both full. But DH had a crab feed at work and brought some home, so I think if we get hungry later, we are going to eat that. I bought chocolate bars but stupid me bought nothing to dunk in the chocolate.

Ryan makes them nearly every year. It's his contribution to the holiday baking.

Ok, I have never had cheese fondue. How do you make it and what do you eat it with?

The church dinner last night was delicious. WE had mostacciolli, salad, baked chicken with peppers, breadsticks, sauteed green beans, and spumoni for dessert. We also ordered pizza for the kids. I got to bring home some of the leftovers which DH ate up!

Today I made chili. We got around 10 inches of snow, so it sounded really good. We had it with fritos and cheese and made frito pies.

It appears we used the pepper last week for steak so... We're having a Taco Dorito bake for dinner. I know the kids like that. They aren't crazy about the hawaiian chicken.

We're under a winter storm warning now *sigh*. Can I just say that I am SICK SICK SICK of winter already? We've gotten SO much snow already and it's not even JANUARY! Ugh.

Hello Ladies...

Just wanted to pop in and say "hi".

I haven't been cooking anything for good reason...

Alexander James arrived on December 16th at 9:48 am. with no complications.

He was 7 lbs 3 oz and has lots of hair.

Snow---

We are in another blizzard warning or watch can't remember and I think that it will be heading your way again Jan and Jaclyn. Sorry. It's starting to blow now and I can't see down the street.

P.S. I posted before the little guy came that there would be a snow storm- just wait and see. WELL we broke a record temp the day that he was born with an air temp of -23 degrees

I told you...

Someone is finally awake.

I think that we will order pizza tonight.

OMG! Congratulations! He is beautiful. What a wonderful Christmas gift!

I was born November 25th outside of Chicago and a huge store then too.

Good for Ryan!

Here is how I make mine: 2/3 cup white wine in a saucepan, warm it up until it starts to bubble, add 8 oz Guyere cheese (I use half Emmental sometimes), little pepper, garlic if you like, then stir until melted. We have a fondue pot, so I rub the pot with a garlic clove instead of adding it to the cheese. You can also use a little crock pot too. We dunk bread cubes and green apples. Sometimes carrots.

Congratulations Michelle!! He's a cutie! I'm so glad that there were no complications.

Sam ~ Thanks for the recipe, I'll have to try that sometime, I think the kids would really like it. And as for the wine, haven't tried it yet... lol. We're waiting for a special time.

Tonight I am making a proper meal for myself, even though Andy isn't around. I am making roasted baby potatoes, grilled rib steak, and probably some grape tomatoes and snap peas for veggies. I don't know, I just felt like food tonight

Tonight we're having spaghetti, with my homemade sauce. We've got company coming over who plan to eat and then bake cookies with the kids. We'll have homemade garlic bread as well. I should have had Ryan pick up the stuff for a salad because that sounds 10x better to me than spaghetti (I'm not a spaghetti fan).

I've made the pretzel ring 'candies' today and white party mix and Ryan is in the process of doing the buckeyes. He's rolled 70 so far. Once those are done, he'll do the truffles.

Ryan can come to our house and make goodies.

We are having pizza tonight...

Tomorrow night will be some of the Chicken Noodle Soup that I froze.

Michelle-
Alexander is beautiful! There has been snow here all week-and we're supposed to get another 10 inches or so before Christmas eve...yuck.

Tonight we were supposed to have a small turkey breast...but when I put it in the oven I realized it smelled funny-and my mom and sister agreed..so no more turkey.
So now, we're having Chili's for dinner...blah.

Katy - That stinks - literally! I hate when that happens.

I'm so excited for the new babies on here, I hope mom is getting a little rest.

We had shrimp and scallop pasta last night, yummy. I bought too much shrimp, so I'm making something with the other half tonight, probably scampi. I have a roast in the fridge that needs to go in the crockpot tomorrow, just need to decide how I want to cook it. The standard cream of mushroom or something else.

I have NO idea what we're going to have tonight. Last night was the spaghetti and the company loved it (the baby and I had alfredo sauce and bow tie pasta). They wanted to bake cookies with the kids and I ended up baking them . Ryan did take the last batch out of the oven for me.

However we did get the buckeyes completed yesterday and the truffles rolled, but they'll have to be dipped tonight. I also have to bake the biscuits tonight as Ryan works until 8pm tomorrow night and then we're to Christmas eve, *sigh*.

LOL! Thanks! It is actually my mom's recipe-passed down from my grandma. It's 7:20 here and we STILL haven't eaten dinner! I'll have to post the recipe later if anyone wants it

We had chicken from the grocery store last night! I was too busy watching football to cook and DH wanted hotdogs with Velvetta rolled in crescent rolls. Tonight we are having a roast in the old standby of cream of mushroom and onion soup mix. It is currently sleeping in the crock pot.

I think that it will be sandwiches and whatever else I can find. I went to the store last night, but I am not sure if DH's family is coming tonight or tomorrow- depends on the snow and if it's going to start again...

We went out for pizza yesterday and then today we will eat up the leftovers. Easy peasy!

For Christmas we are going to have BBQ ribs; I'm going to buy some country ribs, stick them in the crock pot all day, then brush them with some more sauce and throw them under the broiler. This was DH's idea...he isn't thrilled with the idea of ham or turkey. So I'll maybe buy some potato salad to go with it, make some baked beans and have a summer picnic meal, LOL!

LOL when I quickly read that I thought it said "I am currently sleeping in the crock pot"

HA...it's been a LONG day-I just spent 6 hours driving in snow...ew. So tonight it's left over pizza.

I'll have to get the recipe for the pepper steak..it's one of those things that I have so often that I SHOULD remember it...but I DON'T. So I'll definitely post the recipe tomorrow

Aww Sam you're so sweet! I hope you and your hubby have a WONDERFUL Christmas. I just got done baking about 20 dozen or so baking powdered biscuits to give as gifts. Now I have to quick shower and get ready so we can leave by 5:30. We'll be off to the home farm.

You have a great Christmas too. I might have to hit you up for your biscuit recipe though. We are having nasty Pillsbury Crescent Rolls tomorrow, blech. My brother and DH like them but I'm not a fan. I made rolls last year that I kneaded and rose and my family complained about them!

Our event isn't until 7 pm so I have the mushrooms stuffed and just need to bake them.

You biscuit and roll makers are the greatest. We ended up with NO bread for our Christmas brunch because no one wanted to fight the last minute grocery shoppers. Daughter did put the most marvelous bread in the breakfast casserole. She used potato bread bought at Ingles -- it made a sweet complement to the spicy sausage. She is making sour cream biscuits to go with the beef roast dinner I am fixing for tonight.

Christmas Eve I made porcupines, rice and green beans. It was a good meal for a day when you just want to throw something in the oven and let it cook while you finish up last minute stuff.

Christmas Day we had an eclectic menu. DH wasn't wild about the idea of ham, but the girls both wanted that. So we had barbecued country ribs, cooked in the crock pot, then finished off under the broiler, ham, baked potatoes, corn, pineapple sauce, baked beans and broccoli rice casserole, which I made for the first time ever. I have had the jar of Cheez Whiz to make it for a long, long time in my fridge, LOL! That stuff just never goes bad, so I had no fears about using it. It was delicious, but I was the only one to eat any, so it looks like I have lunch for myself for a few days. With all the leftovers, I shouldn't have to cook for a few days. Yay!

Sounds yummy Jan!

We had prime rib, baked potatoes, and rolls. I completely forgot about the green beans. Oh well!

I have a leftover roast I want to shred for tacos and prime rib for french dip sandwiches. We might eat at the bowling alley tonight and I was thinking of taking my little brother out for lunch today as I need to go shopping.

Christmas Eve we ate at the farm, there were a lot of different things to choose from, my favorite being German Potato Salad and Bacon, Lettuce, Cauliflower Salad.

Yesterday we had brunch here with my sister and her family. I made crescent cheesecake and sleepin in omelette, both were gone lol.

Today is Emberlyn's 1st Birthday, I have NO idea where that time went. I was planning on making a ham dinner, but that is all contingent upon Ryan getting into town to pick up potatoes as we're out. Although pork chops with stewed tomatoes and sauerkraut sound good too, so we'll have to see which is easiest.

We're having ham dinner. Ryan didn't have to run into town YAY he found more taters down stairs.

So I'm off to quick throw together some stuffing.

I forgot all about posting the pepper steak recipe. It's really easy and a lot of time we'll tweak the recipe to adjust to our taste.

1- 2 lb. round steak cut into 1/2 inch strips
1 thinly sliced item
2-3 cloves of minced garlic
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
1 can tomato sauce
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 green pepper seeded and thinly sliced
*optional* 1 red pepper seeded and thinly sliced
1 can sliced mushrooms

Put everything but the peppers and mushrooms in to the crock pot. Cook on high for one hour and then low for another 3-4 hours. The last hour add the peppers and mushrooms.
*if you want a thicker consistency for the "sauce" you can toss the round steak in flour before you put it in the crock pot*
Serve over rice.

So, there ya go!
For Christmas eve we had homemade lasagna and garlic bread
for Christmas we had ham, funeral potatoes, asparagus casserole, pretzel jello, spinach salad, and rolls. It was so yummy! So-tonight we'll have the leftovers...which is good by me!
