UPDATE my husband just took my son to the er need some chatting..
My son started having an ear ache this evening and it turned into a full blown ear ache(with screaming and terrific pain). I calle dthe doc and they called a prescri. in to numb it. Neesdless to sAy it did not work at all. In fact his one ear ( to me) looked swelled as if the drops would not even go down, and when he screamed it kinda bubbled. I'm so scared I have to stay here with our 3 yr old and It's killing me.I'm just sitting here crying my eyes out,I called my mom no answer and my best friends phone is on the fritz. My son just called me from the truck ands said mom I'm not going to the doc i'm going to the hospital, which scares him to death(because of asthma stuff he's had to go beforre). Any advice for me to stay calm or just a little prayer for my little guy. DONNA TIA
Oh Donna... I'm so sorry! It's really rough on a Mom when your child is in pain. I am praying that Spirit of God will quickly bless your little one with peace and healing.
Oh my thank you so much. You don't know how much that means to me. DONNA

Donna That is horrible!!! Do you have a neighbor that you could call to come sit with your little one so that you can get to the er? Wish I could help!
Hopefully everything will be alright soon!!
I am so sorry this is happening to your son - I know you are worried about him.
I'm guessing he has a severe enough infection that the eardrum is trying to/or already has ruptured. This same thing happened to my ds this weekend. However, my son didn't complain of any significant pain and he woke up with drainage dried on his earlobe and pillow. I felt so awful about it, but the doc made me feel better. He said it had happened to a couple of his kids when they were younger, too. A ruptured eardrum used to be the only treatment for ear infection, as there used to not be antibiotics. The rupture allows the infection and pressure to be released from the inner ear.
Doctors used to cut the eardrum themselves as treatment for infection. The treatment is antibiotics, and time. It will heal in about 2 months, usually without any problems.
I hope your ds is able to be treated quickly and given some relief from his pain. I also pray for peace for you.
Thanks so much you guys I needed some people. I really don't have anyone to just call in a pinch like this and I hated to wake my little girl to be a bear at the er kwim. So here I sit just waiting. It was wierd ,he was fine all day(you know school, home, outside to play) and then after 7 pm he said my ear hurts then it just was like boom. thanks so much you guys you are so keeping me sane right now. That poor little guy! We all know that you are wishing with all your heart you could be there at the ER with him holding him. He'll be back for a momma hug in no time I'm sure. So sorry you're going through this!
peggysue
I know what you mean about needing someone to "talk" to. Splitcoast is such a neat place because there are nearly always a few hundred folks awake and willing to help. I'll check back here a couple of times to see if you get an update from ER.
Poor baby! And poor mama waiting at home We're here for you!
Hugs to you and pass them on to sweet baby when he gets home.

I made it! Dec 2006-July 2007!
My nonstamping, weight-loss blog sort of.
So sorry your little guy is feeling bad this evening. It is so hard to be away from our babies while they are in pain. My 11yo DS was diagnosed with diabetes 2 1/2 years ago...while on vacation with his grandparents in Boston. I was in Missouri. It almost killed me to not be there with him. Don't be afraid to call the ER where your husband took him. They will probably be able to update you quicker that your husband will, or at the very least you can possibly talk to you little guy again. It will make you feel better to kind of know what is going on. I think I probably drove the nurses crazy in Boston due to all my calling, but that was my baby....so I didn't really care.
Hope everything is ok. I will be praying for your son and family.
Me again guys they just called (thank you JESUS!) He has 2 pretty bad middle ear infections, and an upper resprioty infection, they said it wouldn't hurt to give him some breathing treatments while he fights it off!
I really can't tell you how much you guys have meant to me this evening/morning. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I just can't say it enough! HUGS to each and everyone of you! DONNA
Donna...So glad you heard from your guys. Hopefully he will have a speedy recovery now. I didn't realize until about 6 years ago how quickly an ear infection can set up shop. I had taken my then 2 yo DS to a check up for his tubes with his ENT and everything looked great. The very next evening he woke up on the couch from the nap with bright red blood running out of his ear. Needless to say I pretty much freaked out. The next morning at the ENT we ended up having to have a stint put in that ear because it was so swollen that she couldn't even see his eardrum. She suspected it had ruptured, thus giving us the blood. Earaches are no fun for our kiddos.
Anyway...sorry about the hijack. I hope your guys are home soon so you can give your little man a great big hug and kiss. (How old is he? I couldn't find it anywhere above....just the curious mom in me.)
Wow Pam that is terrible. i can't imagine going through that. Kids are so fragile and precious.
Justin is 6 and just a bundle of boy! He adores his dad so I knew he would rather him go with him tonight. They said he needed to rest a few days so no school and I don't think he cares! Thanks so much for the concern and prayers. DONNA
I do believe I learn something new everyday from my boys, especially my 3yo. HaHa! Isn't it amazing how they can be so fragile, but so tough at the same time?! It's always good for dad to get in on some of the "fun" of parenting. My DH has made his fair share of trips to the ER. Father-Son bonding is good for the soul!...and sanity in my case! !
Have fun with Justin at home the next couple of days. My 3 yo is always excited when one of his "bubbies" is home from school. He was not a happy camper when Christmas break was over.
I hope the rest of your night/morning is peaceful.
