Default Do dry cleaners give away hangers??

I am participating in several kids consignment sales. They both say that you can get wire clothing hangers free from dry cleaners. Has anyone ever tried to get them for free? Obviously if you use their service, your clothes will come on hangers, but I have no need for dry cleaning service. Has anyone walked into a dry cleaners and requested hangers? I'm thinking at least 20 or more. I'm just thinking...that's a business item for them, not something they throw away! Why would they give them away for free?

I had a garage sale a few years ago and desperately needed hangers... lots and lots of hangers. I walked into the local dry cleaner to at least 200 hangers. She wouldn't let me pay for them, and when I told her that I'd bring them back when we were done, she said, "Please don't!"

So, yes, ask if they'll give you some. I'm guessing they'll be willing to part with more than you'll ever need. And if they won't GIVE them to you, I bet they'd sell some really cheap.

The cleaner I use has a recycling bin full of wire hangers and plastic bags. Maybe if the cleaners in your area recycle they would not mind donating some from the bin.

If you were here in Houston, *I'd* give you some!! Lots, as a matter of fact!
