My family had this nasty tummy virus & the incubation is several days to a week. I know b/c that's when dh got it, then 6 days later I thought I was going to throw up, but never did. I've had slight fever & feel queasy (not pregnant for sure). I feel like it's "gonna hit" but wonder if I can do anything to make it not hit hard? I'm eating what I'd eat if I did have a tummy virus---bland stuff, no dairy, drinking lots of water. I had to cancel a Pampered Chef show today & have one booked for Tuesday. I need to work this month & earn some money.
I wish there was something you could do but I think it's up to your immune system at this point to try and fight it off. One thought, you may be contagious at this point, I've heard you are the most contagious right before and right after you come down with something. I'm not a dr. or nurse, this is just what I've heard.
I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end. - Margaret Thatcher
I'm sorry you are feeling crummy! Not good for your work...or anytime that's for sure!
I used to work for a naturepath doctor and found lots of helpful tips-
WE've got four kids and when they were little it seemed like they brought everything home! My doctor friend told me to keep a bottle of acidophilus pills in the frig. (Its the good bacteria already in your system) You get these at GNC or other healthfood stores. The people at those stores are usually pretty knowledgeable, too. Anyway, whenever anyone in our family starts feeling like they're getting a bug they'll take one. I'd break them apart and dump half in my kids' juice if they were sick. I'll usually do one in the morning, one at dinner until things settle. If you're throwing up, you can add a little in your water, try to keep some down, whatever gets in your system helps.
Well, I hope you feel better!!!!

Do you have any phenergan lying around... start treating the symptoms before they start. My daughter had a stomach virus thats going around 2 weeks ago... She was pitiful The doctor went ahead and gave me enough phenergan for the family. I never got "sick" but did run the fever and feel crummy... Me and my dd and ds all took advantage of the all you can eat popsicle rule while someone is sick...
Up against the wall and Stamp Em!
I'm sitting here feeling so icky, but still just a nauseated tummy & fever. It looks like Gravol is a Canadian sold product. Is Phenegran an over the counter med or RX? Anything else I could take. I feel so much like I could throw up at any time, but haven't. My ears are ringing, too, & I keep waking up with a really sore back. I talked to my host from Saturday, who happens to be a nurse. She said I might just have a mild case, but to keep drinking liquids. She rescheduled for June, yea!
I also called my Tuesday host & put her on "alert". She's NEVER been \to a Pampered CHef show so I hate to do this to her, but I'd much rather her stay well.
I'm taking the Acidophilus. Thanks so much for the ideas!
Phenegran is only by perscription.
You can get a liquid called Emetrol. You should be able to get it at any drug store. I don't think it works as good as Phenegran (which is great stuff!), but it helps.
I'm so sorry you're feeling cruddy! Try to get some rest!
This sounds kinda wierd, like maybe it won't work, but it really does...
take an egg white, a tsp. or so of sugar, and a drop or two of vanilla, and whip it up like you are making merengue(sp?). Keep whipping it with a mixer until it is really fluffy...whip eggs first, then slowly add sugar and vanilla...just like merengue...and after it is all done...just eat it slowly with a spoon. It's kinda sweet, but it does the trick every time for my kiddos.
Hmmmm, the egg white thing sounds kind of yummy! I did get dh to go by the store & get emetrol & it seems to help a lot so far. Thanks for all the ideas! My dh & a friend who had this are still feeling it a week later in a small way. Yucky!
