Good Evening All:

I will preface this with God is Alive and still on His throne.

Gloria- I will be praying for your doctor's appt tomorrow, this is the second opinion with the Oncologist...i don't blame you for going...but I still believe the first report.

Naner! Great too hear from you! Glad you were able to pop in, better than laundry...have fun on your trip!

Gail- I am sorry to hear of the passing of your Grandmother...and the sadness that comes with. I pray that you feel the comfort of our loving God during your time of grief...will be praying for your family as well. BIG HUG!

Just an update and thank you all for you kindness in asking about my leg. I have severe nerve damage in my spine...along with that, I have tremors. So basically I experience pain 24/7 some days are worse than others...since the fall the other day, I have been weak, then the pain kicked in pretty bad...so I am using my cane a lot to get around. From all the specialists i have gone to...this is as good as it gets...it was not suppose to effect my left leg, but it started to this year. This all began from a bone tumor i had in the head of my right femur. Occassionally i get grouchy.

Things have been really stressy around here...i only work very part time. They are laying off at work...this does not effect me, but i know my Christian brothers and sisters and really being buffeted right now and that is waying heavy on my heart. Beth has been a gem...I spazzed out in an email to her, when all of this came down the pike yesterday...along with my leg hurting.
God always gives us who and what we need.

Be Blessed and Big Hugs to all,

love

t

Gail, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Even though 104 is monumental, it is still a loss for you and your family to deal with.

I pray that you will have peace and calm soon.

Praying for you too, Toni.

Things are still the same here as far as my son is concerned. He has huge amounts of homework because he isn't keeping up at school, but at least I know more of what's going on. One thing I'm going to ask his teacher is if he can do some of it on the weekend. She doesn't like for kids to be bogged down with homework on weekends (many teachers in our school have the theory that if they don't work, neither should the kids) but I just think that spreading things out would be better for my son. I really love his teacher too, she's a wonderful, sweet woman who also happens to go to our church. She's very approachable, and hopefully she will agree to this.

Hope the rest of you are well. Are you feeling better, Beth?

He's 10, 5th grader. I was warned by parents of older kids that this would be the year the homework got intense, but unfortunately my son has this pace that he does everything at - and it's too slow! He also has problems staying focused.

i was not gonna offer any advice, i was just wondering how old he was...it sounded pretty normal to me. I wish i knew way back then, what I know now. Sounds like he has an awesome momma who cares, and believe me you would be surprised that some don't, it cuts into too much of their time. I applaud you.
I will continue to pray

Toni...I'm here. Just been busy. I forgot that Halloween was Friday...well, sort of, and forgot that I wanted to make these spider things for the kids so made 20 of them at nap today...along with s ome pillow pouch things from that sizzix die cut that is in the mini. Then dh didn't get home till 7:30...somewhever between that was dinner and a daycare interview from for a family for a part time spot I have open.....jut been crazy.

I'm feeling better...just tired as I'll get out....almost konked off when I had to give the baby his bottle today...sitting there cuddled up, rocking in the lazy boy, other kids playing so nicely....boy it was all I could do to stay awake! LOL! But, I'm going to try to get to bed early.

Julie, will be praying for your son. His teacher sounds super and I'm sure she will be willing to make some accomodations.

Oh, Toni....that was VikkiJo's mom that was so sick...you can pray for my mom though, if you want! Hehehehe! she has sosme knee issues and a heel spur that is causing her pain. She went to the doc again yesterday. He gave her a courtizone (I' sure I misspelled that) shot or steroid shot or something in her knee. He said there is no cartlidge in her knees but one is giving her lots of pain. So just pray for her, that this will help buy her some time to drop some weight before considering knee replacement surgery.

Off for now to catch up with the dork sisters!

Hope everyone is well.

Toni ... "as good as it gets" is tough to hear ... praying that God will give you the strength you need day by day.

Thank you all for your prayers.

It's been a long week! (already)

Toni, no tomorrow will be a visit to the family Dr. to see if he will give us a referral to see the oncologist. We want to talk to one just to see if he thinks/knows anything that will work to not have them return. After reading some on this type of tumor it sounds like they have tried other things that have kept them from returning, at least longer then 2 years. If he says no, then we just have to kept praying that this time they got it all. Thanks for thinking of us.

Sorry to hear your leg is an on going thing, so you have the right to be "grumpy" at times.

Gloria

Gail:
His grace is suffiecient for me each day. I really mean that. I have set my self up sooooooooo many times for disappointment. Thinking that this procedure would work or that medication would restore me. I rest in the hands of The Great Physician, there is just no Plan B.
All the Plan B's leave me disappointed and depressed. It is OK...I just don't want you to think that i don't believe that one day it will be gone...i was also told i would never work again...well i do, not a lot, but i do!
It will be in God's time and it will be to His Glory.
I really did not mean to sound like i have given up, because that is very far from the truth...I used to teach classes on Living with Chronic Illness.
For me perspective is the key. Now tomorrow if i am complaining...kick me in the hiney
Gail- How are you doing tonight? Things going OK? How is the other g-ma?

Vickie- I hope your mom is better...i knew somebodys mom was ill.

My mom is 86YO...she has been bone on bone in both knees for many years, missed her window for a knee replacement because she did not want to...anyway...she gets injections called Synvisc....as long as you are not allergic to chicken you can get these. There is no damage that occurs from this...let me try to describe...it is almost like a natural lube. She has done well with this for years. I know weight can be an issue...but if the Synvisc works....Cortisone can be a second option...that of course has implecations after a while. Anyhow...it is worth asking if she is a candidate for this...or worth trying...insurance covers.

Default Hello : )

Ladies-
I wondered what happened since the e-mail reminders about part one of the thread stopped coming. Then, in my catching up I found the link to this one. Woohoo! I can't stay on for long and don't get to check very often. Being an SAHM who is enjoying 3 different Bible studies keeps me busy. (And, no, each study is special in its own right, so I can't give any of them up.) Tomorrow...I'm so excited!...I'm headed to a Christian women's retreat up at a lake in the mountains...sigh...I haven't even started packing, made my treats, or cleaned the house yet...

In the Tuesday morning group we are studying the names of God. Our theme verse is awesome. I'm thinking of creating a "tower" type graphic for it to go onto my fridge to add the names to as we study.

Here's the verse...
"The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe." --Proverbs 18:10

Glad I found you all again!
Blessings on your day and weekend!

Just got back from the visit with our family Dr. ; He is so nice, told us no problem with the referral to the oncologist in our city and then told us he would call tonight and talk to his friend in the Mayo Clinic that works only with surgery with bones and muscle with cancer and is an oncologist also( if I heard right).Even though this is NOT cancer he felt to we should check on other things. This is the Dr. that told us it wasn't the muscle mass we had been told years earlier. He is a blessing to all his Pt.'s!

Hope all are doing well today, here it is a wonderful fall day, in fact it makes me think of spring.... Take care and talk again soon. Gloria

Hugs to you, Gail. It must be emotionally draining to have so much concern and grief at the same time.

Oh Gloria I am sooooo happy! Thank you Lord. In 1999 when i was referred to an Orthopaedic Oncologist at Mayo here in AZ...it was a day trip each time i had to go...but this doctor was the best in the WEST...no pun intended. They had so much patience with me. Even though I had to be treated with RFA...and i was going to a tumor doctor, they would assure me over and over, it was NOT a grave situation. I was only one of 12 that had this particular procedure done at the time. It sounds like you are in great hands....will still continue to pray. BIG HUG!!!!

You do not have, because you do not ask God.
James 4:2

Prayer is the easiest and hardest of all things, the simplest and the sublimest; the weakest and the most powerful. Its results lie outside the range of human possiblities--they are limited only by the omnipotence of God. Few Christians have anything but a vague idea of the power of prayer. Fewer still have the experience of that power.

The Church seems almost wholly unaware of the power God has given her. This spiritual blank check on the infinite resources of God's wisdom and power is rarely, if ever used, and never used to the full measure of honoring God.

Prayer is our most formidable weapon, and yet the one in which we are the least skilled and the most reluctant to use.

E.M Bounds

Pray about it: The most remarkable thing about prayer is that we haman beings have been invited into God's presence to fellowship with Him. Further we've been told to ask freely of our heavenly Father for all our needs.

We have been given and incredible, truly unbelievable, magnificent gift in prayer. That is what makes it so amazing that so many Christians live and die without knowing about and using this gift. How do they do it? To live without communion with God is like living in a loveless marriage.

Don't let this happen to you. You have all the resources of God available to you. Use them frequently and wisely. Today thank God for His unspeakable gift of prayer.
From the devotional Magnificent Prayer- Nick Harrison

Hi everyone!

Gail, I'm sorry to hear about your grandma. I'm praying for you.

I've got some good news; I've been hired for a job through a freelance job site. I found it through Good Morning America; basically you register with the office/graphic design/programming skills you have, build a profile and start applying for jobs. It's really hard to get your first one because almost all the buyers are looking for people who have hours logged on the job site and if you haven't gotten one yet, you don't have any! But God was gracious...my name apparently popped out because the buyer has another virtual assistant named Jeanine, LOL!

Anyway, after a bit of back and forth trying to set up a time to talk, I talked to the buyer yesterday. He wants a Constant Contact administrator and since I used to use CC for my business, I applied. I checked out his newsletters, emailed him with my thoughts, gave him samples of my work and he emailed this morning to say I was hired! I won't start working until December/January, but that will give me some time to figure out how to file quarterly taxes, etc.

Then I got another interview email for a different job up there this morning! Once I get some hours logged and some feedback, it will be much easier to get more work. This is great for me because I really *love* being at home...I've never enjoyed sitting in an office all day. I love being able to keep a child at home if they are sick and being available during the day to respond to the occasional forgotten lunch emergency. I've been checking out different options that GMA presented in their Work at Home segments; one of the sites for virtual customer service agents was only looking for evening shifts and you have to have a QUIET room to work in (my computer is in the living room so that doesn't work!), so that wasn't much good. The mystery shopping doesn't really pay all that much and most of the places that they want you to shop are so far away that by the time I pay for gas, I've used up any pay! So I've really tried to work at building up my profile on the freelance site...you can load project samples, take tests to prove your proficiency in all different kinds of software, email etiquette, office knowledge, etc.

Hope everyone has a great Halloween!

Jan, that sounds like a perfect set up. God is good!

I'm going to pop in here now, because I'm not working today, and I have a super busy weekend coming up. We're redoing a lot in our house, we're getting new carpets throughout most of the house in a couple weeks. So that means that every wall that touches where new carpet will be is getting painted. We're going to paint both our kids' bedrooms tomorrow, and while the painting itself doesn't take long, moving all their cr*p around does! I can't wait to have new carpeting, but I'm sure not looking forward to the house being in utter chaos.

So in all my rambling I'm trying to say I probably won't be here much the next couple days. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi Lisa! Glad you checked in and found us again! I used to get notfications in my e-mail of posts, then it stopped. I unsubscrubed then resubscribed to the thread again and that helped for a while...bu tnow I'm not getting them again... Crazy.

Enjoy the retreat.....and I love that verse. Thanks for posting!

Hello Lisa! I like your kitty avatar!
Life here is spinning my head a bit. There is much to do as each day blends into the next and I ready for a trip to Chicago, the holidays, and the wedding. The diet is going good. I have lost 17 lbs. so far. Tomorrow I go shopping for a ball gown [I detest shopping!].

Today I got my paperwork to sign up online for my hours as a substitute with the local school district. That will not make my current client happy but she was informed about this over two weeks ago and has made no move to get another caregiver. I get the impression that she wishes me to stay and work for her forever. The change means a $4+/hr. raise.

It was the last week of the freestyle cha cha yesterday. Cha cha cha
What a fun dance! Next month is east coast swing which we already know so we will probably only go to the last couple classes to see if we can pick up new moves.

One nice thing is that I woke to rain this morning. Rain then to a downpour and then back to rain. What a lovely sound!! I just may have to go out for a walk in it later. [the rain smilies need to have smiles for peeps like me!]

Elee- Yeah for 17lbs! That's fantastic. I'm doing the "First Place 4 Health" program at our church which is a Bible based weight loss/lifestyle change class. It's really good so far.

Jan- You go girl!!! So happy you found some work to do at home! That'll help with the debt snowball. Think gazelle!! My SIL has pictures of gazelle up all over her apartment.

I hope everyone has a terrific weekend!

Hello every one I found this on our church web. I thought it appropriate...
Had to share.
Nothing in the Way

Read Acts 17:11 through 18:11

The highlight of Gloria’s day was watching her favorite television programs. She became upset if anything got in the way of her time with her shows. When her favorite program was moved to Wednesday night, Gloria stopped attending her church’s Bible study because she did not want to miss the show.

Everyday when Steven left the house, he opened the newspaper to check the stock market. Later in the day, he watched television to see if he won the lottery. He also spent an hour or more each day on the Internet looking at his stocks. Steven’s wife and children wished he would go to the kids’ ball games and choir concerts, or at least eat dinner with them.

Television, money, eating, a celebrity—the list of things people turn into idols goes on and on. We must purpose to seek God first and not let any person or thing get in the way of our having a close relationship with Him. If there is an idol in our lives, God desires that we repent of idolatry and reach out for Him. He is not far from us (Acts 17:26,27). In fact, He is waiting right now to help us draw nearer to Him.

Prayer Suggestion: Lord, help me place You first in my life, now and always

Went to the doc with dh this morning. He had a physical and dr. found he had pulled a muscle in his foot.
Hope everyone has a great day.

God Bless

The ball gown is for the Marine Ball that I will be attending in Chicago. In all truth, I am going as a chaperone so that my son's finance can join him. We will be staying at his now/their future apartment. My hope is that I will find something ball-worthy yet not so glitzy that I cannot shorten it into my mother of the groom dress for the wedding. The budget for such things is tight.

My other Grandma died this evening.
My sister will be flying home to go to both funerals.
I passed overwhelmed so long ago I don't remember what it looked like.

Gail, so very sorry for all that you are going through right now and pray the Lord will truly shower you abundantly with His mercy, grace, strength, peace and love.
