Talking What movie must you always watch when they come on TV

Hi All,
I was watching TV the other night going through our channels and Pirates of the Caribbean was on for the "umteenth" time but I watched it yet again. Made me wonder what movies do you all just have to watch when you come across it on the TV. I know that I alway watch Witness also, I like watching movies about the Amish or maybe its Harrison Ford

Besides those two I always watch:
Lillies Of The Field
League Of Their Own
Harry Potter (any of them)
any Christmas Classic (ie Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, any of the cartoon specials )

Miracle on 34th Street the old version
Die Hard
12 Angry Men (a courtroom drama with Henry Fonda)
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Top Gun
Any Sandra Bullock film especially Speed, While You Were Sleeping, Hope Floats and Miss Congeniality
Anything with Matthew McConnaughey because he makes me drool
Pirates of the Carribbean
I love films anyway, so my favourite thing to do is make cards whilst watching an old film, but mostly I get to watch Nick Jr with my five year old.
I went to the movies and saw Sahara last night. If you like old-fashioned Indiana Jones films with little depth or intelligence, but like blow em up, funny, romantic blockbusters you will enjoy it. I LOVED it!!! I go to the movies to be entertained, not for their worthiness.
Matthew McConnaughey with his shirt off might have had something to do with how much I enjoyed the film though!

Shawshank Redemption – it doesn’t matter if it’s half over I can still watch it. The best phrase in the movie was “get busy living or get busy dying” I used it as my motto a few years ago when I got really, really sick with lupus. I’m much better now!

Fried Green Tomatoes - I still wonder if the older lady from the retirement home was Idgy (sp ?). Does anyone know? Kathy Bates was great with “I’m older and I have more insurance.”

Places in the Heart – Sally Field did a good job and it shows the strength of a woman. The same for
Steel Magnolias (the one that actually made my husband cry).

All these were good love stories:
Sleepless in Seattle
You’ve got mail
Titanic

You wouldn't be a Southerner by any chance, would you, Jamie?

My "must watches" are:

Pretty In Pink
Say Anything
You've Got Mail
Sleepless In Seattle
When Harry Met Sally
The Full Monty

I'm sure there are more that I'm just not thinking of. Used to be that if Four Weddings and a Funeral or Legends of the Fall *sigh* was on, I had to watche them, but not so much now...however, I do watch snips of them when I'm flipping & they're on....

Hi all,

I find it interesting that we share so many common "must watch" movies.

Rox71, you were wondering if Jessica Tandy's character in Fried Green Tomatoes was Idgy, I always thought it was too, I don't know if it is ever mentioned in any interviews, they leave it to your imagination. I think I'll have to see if Fannie Flagg has a website and ask her

I just have to turn to these movies when they are on. I could probably recite every line of these word for word.

- The Mummy
- The Mummy Returns (watching it on USA right now!)
- Office Space
- any Austin Powers movie
- Princess Bride
- Robin Hood: Men in Tights
- Bring It On
- 10 Things I Hate About You
- Clueless
- She's All That

Hmmmm.... my first thought was Twister because I watched it just the other night. Of course, right now, I'm watching Independence Day.

Others ....

Dirty Dancing (sorry, I just love it)
The Stand (doesn't come on much, though)
Somewhere in Time (my *all-time* favorite)
Miss Congeniality
Sister Act

Now ... couldn't I just get out the tape or DVD??? LOL!

Hey - I just noticed that my smilies aren't little boxes with x's in them anymore!! Cool!!

Default movie must sees

Sense and Sensibility- Favorite all time movie.

It's A Wonderful Life-wanted to marry Jimmy Stewart

and any John Hughes film made in the 80's - Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, St. Elmo's Fire, Pretty In Pink Etc. Just love them, my brother and I watched them so many times that we used to recite the lines along with them!

You've Got Mail, Steel Magnolias, Pretty Woman, Miracle on 34th St., While You Were Sleeping, Sleeping in Seattle, (watching it right now!), Big, and Goonies!

I love Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan together. I wish they'd make just one more movie. Just saw Sahara with M.M. last Friday and I'd like to see it again.
