Thanks, Tate. Hopefully it will work out and you can see them in person in June.

I know the hands are a painful thing to hurt and everything you do needs those hands to perform. Hope they are better soon. Let us know what the doc says.

Tater I am praying for you.

I'm praying for Brian and family.

Sylvia and Kathy - what???? you are supposed to wash doors? Mine won't fit in the machine!

Greenie! Dark bitter coffee and chocolates are THE BEST! However, Starbucks now has coffee called "Blond"; it is supposed to be mellow and smooth.

I wonder if Starbuck's new "Blond" coffee comes with a straw?????
I'll bet pool sharks would like that kind.

SMOOCHES CA!

Thanks for the potholes warning Jan. :0. I would not want to spill my latte!

Brat Girl!!! You were first! You are correct!!! Yay!!!

The card games Gin and Canasta are both descended from an ancient Chinese game, Mah-jongg, which is more than a thousand years old.

"Saving Private Ryan" - I thought it was a great movie, but Shakespeare in Love won over it, which many people thought was a big mistake by the members of the Academy.

Greenie! You are correct on this one!!! I agree. The wrong movie got Best Picture honors that year!!

Saving Private Ryan was a Best Picture nominee in 1998, but lost to Shakespeare in Love. Saving Private Ryan is a 1998 American epic war film set during the invasion of Normandy in World War II. and was directed by Steven Spielberg.

Yeah, me too. Mahjong is ONLY ancient game I know. Well, I guess Mancala has been around for a long time, but maybe not 1000 years.

Steal? Oooooh, Brat Girl! Now, I know why you have a permanent seat on top of this bus!! LOL!

Mancala (in the U.S.) is a game with a board that has 12 circular depressions in two rows plus an oblong depression on each end. It is played with "stones". (like the glass pebbles you put in vases, etc.) The object of the game is to move stones around the board and capture your opponent's stones. The one with the most stones in his space (the oblong spot on his right) wins the game. It's also played in Asia and the Middle East. They call a GROUP of games Mancala though.

"Oscar" is a stylized knight holding a crusader's sword in front of his body. His hands, chest high, hold the sword's "grip," with the blade running from his chest to his feet, pointing down toward the pedestal.
A sword.

My Sistahs - I can't hold in the joy and the tears I am experiencing after reading little Brian's Mom's entry in the journal today - she included 2 links to you tube, showing the tremendous progress he has made - I am so PRAISING GOD!! His little mind is reading and even doing math!! Look at how wonderful your prayers are working!

Journal Feb 27

written by Ellen Murkison

Now more than ever, Brian is proving what love God has for all of us. My wonderful son has shown us that we are never beyond what God can accomplish. Every bit of the love you all have shared with Brian reflects God's love for him (and you!) and this love has healed what was said would never heal! Brian shows me that no matter how bad this life can seem at times, it is just a short blip on the radar when you think that for eternity God has and will love the part of you that isn't bound up by the difficulties of this life. I think about it not only for Brian, but for me. Because I feel that God must love me so much to allow me to be a part of this miracle. I have some moments sometimes when I think how caring and merciful Jesus is to not bring Brian up to be with him yet...because I picture Brian smiling, joking, running around, and think - who wouldn't want that boy around? And yet, he didn't take him. He let us keep him here. And he is returning our boy to us so rapidly, it won't surprise me if before long Brian is actually walking around this house, speaking clearly, going back to school....

I watched him speak again today, and was able to catch so many amazing and wondrous moments on video. I realize some of you cannot watch Facebook video, so I've uploaded them to youtube (hope that works!)

Brian Feb 27 - YouTube

Brian Feb 27 part two - YouTube

We are all loved by God this much all the time - it's just been part of this journey for me to be able to see this. This lent I am devoting time every day to pray a rosary and meditate on healing for Brian's legs, arms, mouth, brain and psychological healing, and for all of our family. I pray every day for everyone who has been a part of this journey and who has prayed for Brian.

One day, when this whole crisis is over, I hope I will not forget all of these lessons, and that all of us will have grown closer to God.

Also, could you all say just a little prayer for my Mom tomorrow - its her 2nd anniversary, and I am missing her! - thanks from the bottom of my heart!!

LYMI! You are the bestest Sistahs ever!! I praise God for your friendship and the love of God we share!

A sword.
Good Googling, Greenie!!! You are correct!!!

Shortly after the formation of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1927, the fledgling organization held a dinner in the Crystal Ballroom of the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles to set out its goals. Among the topics discussed that night was how best to honor outstanding moviemaking achievements and thereby encourage excellence in all facets of motion picture production.

Agreeing to institute an annual award, the group turned its attention to creating a suitably majestic trophy. MGM art director Cedric Gibbons designed a statuette of a knight standing on a reel of film gripping a crusaderís sword. The Academy tapped Los Angeles sculptor George Stanley to realize the design in three dimensions Ė and the world-renowned statuette was born.

Officially named the Academy Award of Merit, the statuette is better known by its nickname, Oscar. While the origins of the moniker arenít clear, a popular story has it that upon seeing the trophy for the first time, Academy librarian (and eventual executive director) Margaret Herrick remarked that it resembled her Uncle Oscar. The Academy didnít adopt the nickname officially until 1939, but it was widely known enough by 1934 that Hollywood columnist Sidney Skolsky used it in a piece referring to Katharine Hepburnís first Best Actress win.

Oscar stands 13Ĺ inches tall and weighs in at a robust 8Ĺ pounds. The film reel features five spokes, signifying the five original branches of the Academy: actors, directors, producers, technicians and writers. Although the statuette remains true to its original design, the size of the base varied until 1945, when the current standard was adopted.

The Licensing Worker is coming tomorrow morning to do the Home Safety Inspection. If we pass that, we are almost there as for as the Foster Care License goes. We have to turn to today. I have so much to do! I'll be back later to post a Trivia Question.
